Some of you may remember the original build thread I had on here years ago. Since photobucket ruined all the links I decided to start a new one.

The car is a black on black 96 Cobra. I value handling more than straight line launch performance so the car has Griggs racing supension up front, 04 IRS in rear.

Previously I was running a fully forged/studded boss block with Comp106400 cams and a SRI. The car ran very well until November 2015 when I hit a deep puddle I did not see and it sucked up a ton of water, bent/destroyed 3 valves, and cracked that sleeve in a few places. [emoji35] I even bought a stock taken out stock replacement cobra engine to keep the car on the road but that didnt last.

It has been almost 2 years but shes finally back on the road. I had the blocked sleeved, switched heads, lowered the compression to 9.5 instead of close to 11, and installed/degreed a set of custom cams specd by Todd.

Now that the car is running again Ill be adding a set of twins by the end of the year. Once ghats finished ill be repainting the car in spring. Hot rod black ftw.

A lot of Pictures to follow once I get them uploaded. Below is a couple teasers

It is the satin black. I shouldve done it years ago.

As much boost as it takes to break 4 digit power. Have to stay ahead of the brother and his pushrod.

It's actually black primer with a lil paint mixed in. Then it has low gloss clear on top.

Once I get it somewhat put back together it's getting resprayed with SEMS hot rod black. Theirs is about the most reliable way to do it.

I wouldnt have guessed it was primer based. But again it looks great.

Side note. Have to replace my water pump. Two bolts are are out and the threads are gone. Caused it to wobble while running and chew the belt. Likely overtightened them these past few weeks as I removed the timing cover repeatedly to fix stupid issues which lead up to a bad chain tensioner being the main culprit.

Go figure.

Most people who do it will just primer it and that's all. That usually leaves it splotchy and it doesn't last. By adding a lil paint to the mix then low gloss clearing over it helps to make it look very smooth and it will last much longer. Mine sat outside with no protection from the sun and weather with no issues at all. And you can't wax it like you normally would so the fact that it didn't chalk or anything shows its durability. Only spot I've have an issue with is on my back bumper where it cracked and pealed off but that's due to release agent still in the fiberglass cause it's an aftermarket bumper. When I respray it I won't have to worry about that happening a second time.
