Since this little project of mine is expanding from upper intake manifold to valve covers and new gaskets, I thought I’d just start a separate thread to make it a one shot, all inclusive. Here’s where I’m at:
1. Upper intake is at the coating shop, currently getting baked to remove original coating, status to follow;

2. I decided to include the valve covers too since they look a little ratty(note the cruddy build up look)

3. Ordered new FelPro gaskets for each.

And now the Questions:

1. Passenger side valve cover… do I have to remove or just loosen the alternator to get it off/on?;

2. What was the sticker on the passenger side valve cover? All I have left is a blank, white piece of paper;

3. Torque specs for upper intake manifold bolts & valve cover bolts?

Also added a pic of rockers (passenger side) for anyone who might be interested or curious

Not worth the hassle to remove passenger side valve cover, so I prepped the hell out of the surrounding area and sprayed it in place! Actually came out really well. Driver side was an easy off, so it got more hands on prep before spraying on the coats of crinkle paint. There’s still some highs and lows where I couldn’t scrape off, but I can live with it :)

when i had my upper and TB and lower for ceramic coated by nitroplate they put it in a large tumbler with ceramic pellets that slowly deposited on the intake. I had to be careful to get them all out and some were wedged in place. It looked more chrome/shiney than what you have. What you have looks like it was sprayed on?

First they baked it to (help) remove as much of the original coating on there. They tried to blend in the coating that wouldn’t come off then ceramic coated it silver, did the black inlay and lightly polished the logo surfaces. I didn’t want the logo surfaces to overkill, so just a light polish to more closely match and blend in with the silver coating

sounds like a little different process than I did but probably similar results. I have been happy with how it has held up so far.
