Projector Headlight High Beam Issue

Hello all, 96 GT, swapped out the ugly and PITA single piece headlight for original style dual piece headlights with some Amazon projectors and 22k lumen LED bulbs.

Finally got around to installing them this evening and got everything adjusted (eyeballed it for now) and working. For the most part that is.

Issue I’m having is, when I pull to flash my high beams, they work, flash as they should. However, the issue I’m having is when I push the lever forward to activate the HB’s, the lights cut off…I have yet to do some diagnosing with my multimeter/test light and check fuses (it’s late and I’m tired). To my knowledge, I have wired everything up correctly, reason being is that the brights technically work, just not with the lever in the forward position. That’s my help I need. Any input is appreciated.

Pictured below is on LB,HB (pulled) and you can see what happens with the blacked out photo when I push the lever forward.

Sounds like a wand issue, or it could be an issue with whatever aftermarket harness the new kit came with.

I’m thinking it’s the wand going bad…the harness I made for it checks out when I did testing before I started this project.

Put stock lights back in and test, the wand may be fine. But the aftermarket harness may have incorrect function. Does it have relays or a solid state device in the harness? It may function incorrectly, only activating highs when it sees both low and high at the same time.

So, the harness is an adapter that I cut and plugged into the cars headlight socket and spliced the wires into the led and projector. But, I can test some standard bulbs and see what it does.

if the lights worked as normal before you put these in, I would not think the selector is bad suddenly as much as the wiring. maybe get a pic of what you did or a wiring color code of what you spliced into?

I will! I’ll do some trouble shooting first and see if I can find the deficiency on my own first.
