well, after 7 hours i finally got the gears in, and they kick ass!!! :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6: the install wasnt as hard as i thought it was going to be, its just really time consuming. so far so good with no whining or clunking or anything like that. im really glad i did it myself cause i saved a lot of money, and i didnt have to part with my baby. hopefully ill be able to make it to the track soon and get some times. couldnt be any happier with the 4.10's.
wow you had the courage to do a gear install yourself, impressive :thumb: Gears make a tremendous difference on a 4 valve motor, glad you like em. :khobra:
Props to you. Ive always heard gears were something you pay to have a shop install. Im a wannabee Mechanic and i wish i had the tools and balls to do that.
thats what i always thought too, and what i was going to do but then i didnt have money to spare and the gears were just sitting there staring me in the face so i had to get them in. im really glad i did it though. i loved the hands on knowledge i gained from it.
yeah, i was thinking about 4.30's for a while, but im throwing a procharger on as soon as i get the money, so i think the 4.10's will be perfect.
With a power adder the 430's probally would be over kill, but for N/A they are the ultimate gear for a high winding 4 valve. 8)
yeah, +100000000 for that!!!!! there finally broken in and i got on it pretty good tonight, and HOLY SHIT!!!!!! i never thought it would be that easy to brake my 285's loose. :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6:
dial indicator to measure the backlash, micrometer to measure the shim thinkness, inch pound and foot pound torque wrenches, bearing puller, and your basic hand tools. oh.... and a 3/4" drive ENORMOUSLY HUGE impact wrench. that pinion nut was such a bitch to tighten
oh Matt you just dont know, gears in a 4 vavle is like heads on a 5.0 the change is AWESOME ( as long as you use at least 4:10 or 4:30's )
Yeah my buddy got 410s in his Z28 6speed entire new car. With the higher revvin 4V im sure its wicked.
