Hello to all,

First of all I would like to say Hi :) to everyone here! I recently ordered a 331 short block from CHP it takes about 6 weeks to complete the block will be balanced to 28oz. I was wondering if I could use my stock flywheel or if I need to by a different one. Also any suggestions with what cam I should go with? I will be running AFR 185 heads the compression on the engine will be 8.8:1 per CHP. This should leave plenty of room for a supercharger I don't know which blower I should go with? I have been looking at Kenne Bell or vortech any other choices I have overlooked. I would like to get about 400 ponies out of this setup I want to build an overall good, strong, street car.

Thanks for looking,

-Frank

ps. any guys in here from Los Angeles/Orange County :TY:

With a 331, afr heads, a good intake and a good cam topped with a kenne bell will probably be more along the lines of 500hp. I see no reason why you could not use your stock flywheel. Is your car a manuel or auto? If it is a stick.. as long as your not changing the clutch set up you can keep the same flywheel, if you are changing it you need to get the flywheel resurfaced.

Stock flywheel is balanced to 50oz so no. A 28oz stock type flywheel is only $100 so I'd just do that.

Well, dd performance doesn't list a nodular 28oz but they might be able to take one of their 50oz nodulars and put a 28oz weight on it. Give them a yell. If not they have some good ones for a pretty reasonable price. You really shouldn't skimp on a stroker though or it WILL come back and bite you in the ass.

the balancer and flywheel both need to be 28oz. ask chp to set you up, have them balance it with those parts.

Welcome to the site.I would speak with CHP regarding the flywheel, i am sure they will point you the right way.As far as a cam i would go either with a custom cam or a blower cam from Anderson motorspsorts.Your car should have no problem hitting 500 rwhp with that set up and any blower you choose.
