Alright guys... i just have a couple questions im kinda thinking the worse, so i was wondering if yall you clear some things up for me..
I have a 2000 gt 5spd btw.. Naturally im jumping to the worst conclusion..

first question: there is a ticking noise coming from me engine bay, particularly the left head ( when looking in front of it), its only noticeable when the hood is open, it isn't very loud, and you cant hear it in the car or while driving. I've heard some of these cars just have noisy heads... Naturally im thinking the worse, that ive thrown a bearing or something.

second question: My car idles kinda funny, like it will idle at 725 then jump to 1100 every once in awhile, never any other rpms.. idk what this could be..

third question: i painted my calipers today, didn't remove them from the car, just masked the area off, put them back on, and tightened the caliper to the bracket really tightly, but now every time i turn to the left hard my car squeaks? and its coming specifically from the left.. ive taken the wheel off and checked to make sure everything was tight, took the caliper off and put it back on, to no avail, it still squeaks.. all the clips and everything are in the right spot..

idk guys... im beginning to think this car is to much maintenance for me, not that i mind, but being 17 years old and a job that correspond, my wallets do.. So basically what i am looking for is: What should my next course of action be? Should I get new rotors pads and fluid? and hope for the best? If i find out that i have thrown a rod or something needs to be done inside the engine, i am literally screwed..

What should i do guys? I need some realistic answers, I am obviously not going to tear my engine apart in my garage..
rant over.

How many miles are on it??

there are a lot of things that could be going on with the motor, chances are your ticking sound and idle problems are probably related, and if the brakes are squeaking on turns did u swap the pads or anything?? chances are you'll probably need a brake job, IMO you probably should've swapped the calipers and painted the new ones since you were doing them anyway. but I understand how budgets go. hopefully someone else more knowledgeable can weigh in on the engine problem to me it sounds like maybe lifters tho

I just painted the stock ones that were on the car, they were giving me no problems prior. The pads are almost new, they were replaced aprox 6 months ago.. as for the engine.. beats me.. i dont feel a loss of power or anything along the lines of that... maybe it idles funny because i dont have catalytic converters? lol

maybe just a worn pulley, vacuum leak, or could just be a header leak. slight tick and erratic idle RPM. check header studs and flanges.

Dont worry about back pressure.
