Hey guys i have 03 explorer that i put an aftermarket radio in and it has the factory amp and subwoofer. Do any of you know if the amp runs the door speakers as well as the sub? The instructions for harness with the rca's said to only use the white rca cable and listed only 3 cars that would use both the red and white. The reason i ask is because when i turn the volume up to about 30 it cuts out which makes me think the factory speakers are cutting out do to more power or something is crossed. I have the door speakers wired direct to the stereo harness and and using the white rca for rear sub maybe i should just be using the power wires on the harness and the rca's run all speakers through the amp. I know its not a stang but figured some of you guys might know do to working at a sound place. Thanks in advance for any help. It's appreciated

If your explorer has factory amps, then I'd guess what you're doing is probably overpowering them with the aftermarket head unit. Most aftermarket head units put out approx 45 to 50 watts per channel, which is WAY more than your stock radio would be putting into the amps that came with the car. You'll need to bypass those amplifiers, or use an aftermarket harness (with the correct resistance circuitry inside) that can interconnect your stock amps with your aftermarket head unit.

If it cuts out at high volume my guess would be a crossed wire man. Had that happen to me when going back to the factory wiring after removing my amps. I put the posi on the negative and it worked but when I turned it up it would just cut out. Check your wires on the harness first man. It's real easy to cross those wires

Yeah most the time its a crossed wire or the speakers cutting out do to the more power but if my trucks amp powers the door speakers as well and i have the door speakers wired direct to radio and have the rca plugged in then i am assuming that's where the crossing is coming into play being i am trying to power them from 2 sources. Lmk if that sounds correct guy's. Thanks for the replies

RCA's don't power the amp they just run the audio signal. Just make sure the wires in the harness are good before you start Flippin RCAs lol I have an 05 Exploder in my driveway and I've had 5 head units in it. Believe me bro check those little guys its easy to put the positive on the negative especially on purple
