My car has been doing something weird now and it has left me stranded twice now, im driving normally and when im coming to a stop my car will start to sputter and miss like it was running on 3 cylinders and it will slowly stop losing power and it will just die, like it runs out of gas, if i try to start it back up it will start shortly with no power and if i press the gas pedal it will not accelerate and it just dies, if i try to start it again then it just wont even start anymore.

To me it looks like if my car runs out of gas and its only able to start back up because it runs on leftover gas thats in the fuel lines, im thinking my fuelpump might be taking a dump on me but i dont want to spend $100+ on a new one that wont solve the problem, now heres the weird problem, if i leave the car off for maybe an hour it will start fine and then i can get home with my fingers crossed lol, if i dont let it off for more than an hour it will do the same thing shortly after. Could it be that the pump is overheating or overworking itself to the point were it quits and needs time to cool down before it runs again.

What should i start checking ? It mainly seems like a fuel issue cuz car has spark and maf and all other sensors work fine, im going to take the car to my friends shop and check my fuel pressure , and prolly change the fuelfilter , maybe its clogged and its not letting fuel flow freely making the pump overheat.

my car was doing something similar but it turned out to be the tps. When you turn the key on, do you hear the pump charge the line?

def change the fuel filter first then ck your pressure at the manifold. your pump could be dieing, or it may be your distrbutor too.

Fuel pumps can do that ..When the car does it and you turn the key over do you hear the pump buzz?

I had a foxbody that did the same thing it was the pump getting hot....Car would be fine if i let it cool for an hour..

I would also check the CCRM and The Distributor Pickup ..

Next time the car does it check the schrader valve to see if you have fuel pressure and if you do your pump is working and its the ccrm or pickup ..

The computer in are cars store trouble codes so you should learn how to check the codes our buy a code reader .. But I would think its the pickup (hall sensor effect sensor PIP in dizy) or the pump going out ... good luck

Ok after 3 days the car has been working fine, if it does this again im going to check the schrader valve to see if fuel is on the lines, i do hear my pump buzz when i turn the key on but i never get a chance to hear it while i have been stranded cuz traffic wont let me hear it , but after i leave the car off for a while i turned the key on and the pump did prime, now it almost seems like a lack of fuel problem cuz just after the first shutoff if i try to restart it will start for one second then dies, if i try again it just wont even turn by itself so the car feels like it has no fuel at all.

Info to keep in mind. The PIP is inside the dizzy and sends the signal to the computer to keep the fuel pump running as well as spark. If the pip goes bad you'll get the sympton of low or no fuel pressure. But after the dizzy cools down, the signal will return and the car will fire.Same thing happens when the pump gets hot and quits. The fuel pump relay is in the CCRM and that's mounted by the radiator. It's not known to get hot and quite, it's just known to quite working period.
