I was reading a thread on Corral about a guy who drilled & tapped new caliper fixing holes in his Cobra brackets,to work with the smaller 12" Crown Victoria rotors.

He had success with this mod and his Pro Star xp's up front, anyone know if this will work with the regular Pro Stars skinnies?

I have also emailed Baer as i've been told they still sell the modified brackets already drilled.

Thanks

Yea, CMC guys were doing this before 13" rotors were allowed. Using 12" rotors from Crowns or removing an inch from a Cobra rotor. Not sure how they were dropping the 1" on the Cobra caliper, but I'm sure it was cheap or free. I know you have to space out the caliper bracket with some shims. Let me get the details on this...

Why not just go to GT brakes?

Not sure if Baer still makes the brackets and spacers, they were like $60each. Then you would either machine the 13" rotors to 12" (take off 1/2"), or use the Crown Vic stuff. I think SCCA's American Sedan were limited to 12" rotors at one time too, but may not be aymore so the brackets may be hard to find.

Redrilling caliper brackets is a cinch. My Toyota pickup uses ls400 calipers and brackets on a very ill fitting spindle. (I'd post pics but photobucket has gone to hell)

My only advice is use a drill press. I had to weld up holes and re-tap new ones halfway in the weld slag. Drilling solid weld slag sucks big time FYI.

That's a little stout.

I'd just downgrade to 11s, slap on some skinnis, and pull those hoops!!
