Re-tune??

I swapped out a “Brand X” MAF for a new, calibrated Delphi 24lb MAF (same lb as my injectors). Do I need to have it re-tuned to dial it all in?? The car’s been tuned with the old MAF

in a perfect world it will integrate perfectly, if it runs ok leave it alone. BUT with that being said if it is not running well after, then take it in.

The whole point of "tuned" MAFs was to work around the factory ECU's limitation. If you have aftermarket tuning, it's based on the injector that you are running so a tuned MAF would not really be needed. If the MAF coming out was setup for 24lbs, the tune shouldn't need any changes at all. If it wasn't, there is a possibility that a re-tune could better optimize, but the change would be minimal if anything. That being said, my white car was on 24lbs injectors and stock ECU/tuning and it ran the same on a stock MAF and two separate tuned MAFs as I was trying to solve a rich issue and neither seemed to make any real difference. Also, I'm not sure where you got a Delphi MAF that's tuned - Delphi makes OE replacement parts, not performance variants. PMAS and maybe BBK were the general go-to back in the day.

The Delphi MAF came set up to work with 24lb injectors is what I was attempting to describe. I got it at Amazon Prime.

Do I need to drive the car so it “learns” the new MAF ?

some people have found no problems with a tune, some do. It has just as much to do with the rest of the motor and how everything was set up as it does the new piece of equipment.

Is it driving bad/different?

It seems to sputter and delay some. That’s why I’m wondering if I just need to drive it so the computer can learn or would a re-tune be needed?

The only way to really know is if you can view your A/F ratio. As that is the cornerstone of your tune. Without seeing live A/F your just guessing.
