Anybody care to give me a prognosis and diagnosis of these plugs?


PLUG #1 Passenger side front of motor

PLUG #2 Passenger side middle cylinder

PLUG #3 Passenger side nearest firewall

PLUG #4 Drivers side front of motor

PLUG #5 Drivers side Middle cylinder

PLUG #6 Drivers side nearest firewall

WTF is up with Plug #3 with all the corrosion and oil? :sad5: :crybaby2:

thats caused by dirty air filter, weak ignition, too cold a plug, or a defective fuel pump.

Too rich a fuel mixture, improperly operating heat riser or excessive idling.


have you tried cleaning that plug off?

Cylinder# 3 looks like it has ring issues. They all look like they have reached their usefull life.

I think I would pull all the plugs, do a compression test across all 6 cylinders (3X each cyl.) and install/gap a whole new set of plugs.

Go with a standard Motorcraft or NGK plug as they produce a larger spark than the platinums. Maybe that will help some of that carbon/oil from building up so much.

Drive it for a month or so and pull the plugs and inspect again. See what you have then.

Those plugs are junk, get new ones. #3 has oil on it, as said above possably from worn rings, but IMO more likely leaking valve seals.
