i took off the green paint behind the plastic peice so the gauges were clear and yeah the red LEDs are just that bright
that's why you have all the hot spots. the paint on the back of the overlay is what diffused the light. You would have been better off getting white LED's and repainting the overlay red.

What kind of paint would we use? just curious...i got an idea of having my speedometer and tach being red and all the other gauges being blue

yeah id like to know what paint to use as well.

the website also has UV blacklight bulbs. i think that would look pretty sweet cause i love blacklights.
although i dont think it'd look good with black/saddle interior

I don't know. Take your cluster apart and look at the paint that's on there now. when I did mine, I ended up just using permanent marker. Paint would have worked much better though, and I still consider doing it.

I think black light bulbs in the gauges would be horrible, have you ever tried to look at one of those bulbs? Weirdest thing.

id like to keep it all red, just work out the patches.

i dont really like the aftermarket ones bc id like to keep the original look. they look very different almost like another car lol

actually no lol its still the same. i havent gotten a chance to experiment with it. ive gotten use to how it looks, but i was actually thinking about just getting a different gauge overlay and new bulbs.

which brings a question, would a 99 - 04 cobra gauge overlay work on a 96-98 cobra instrument cluster? i really dont care if theres a boost gauge instead of battery voltage, bc in the future there will be boost.

anyone know where i could find a stock replacement?
