I will post a pic when I can but with the peanut butter thread I got to thinking. I want to restore the black plastic that is my cowl. I have heard about Adams VRT and Black WOW. I want something that will LAST. If I restore it with 2 coats of BLACK WOW and get some Aerospace 303 to protect would that work? Chime in everyone

Nothing will really last, the key to taking good care of a car is maintaining it, and applying product regularly.

I have not found anything with any durability. I would hope that the real products out perform peanut butter.

Clean it down really well and then pick up some Duragloss #301 You can find it at NAPA and Carquest among a couple others. Yes, I know that it is a product designed for convertible tops but trust me, it works in this application. Apply one coat and let it soak in real well without wiping it off. Apply a second coat and then wipe it down after letting that sit for another 30 seconds to a minute. You should be good to go now. I generally prefer to apply this product with those foam paint brushes, just FYI.

I used this exact same product and method on my 1994 GT that had been a Florida car for several years. It made that cowl panel look OEM new and would generally give me 3-6 months of protection.

I just use "Eagle1 Trim Protector Gel", used to use Mothers "Back To Black".
If you wanted something permanent , you could probably use the same fabric/plastic dye people use inside their cars when they paint their doors, dash ect.. and paint it black.
Or the best option is to get a new one from ebay. Black or carbon fiber. I got the carbon fiber which is a beautiful piece (that I now polish/seal). He sells the cowl for about $100.00

Krylon Fusion Satin Black would do the trick.

What worked for me was two wipedowns with 50% rubbing alcohol (was all I had at the time) and two coats of Aerospace 303. If you go this route you need to make sure the plastic is clean before applying the Aerospace or (as I was told) it could be washed off by rain, leaving black streaks down the sides of your car.

Yeah take it off, it comes right off. Mask the rubber strip and do it. Looks like new for the price of a can of paint.

Do you have a sellers name for the carbon fiber cowl?

I can't imagine the krylon fushion holding up on a daily driver. Spend the extra $5 and use the SEM trim black.
