Rewiring entire stereo

hey y'all I want run all new wires for my stereo system. I'm sick of dealing with my mach 460's temper tantrums. I will be replacing the speakers and speaker wire and getting rid of the factory amps. just want to make sure I'm not biting off more than I can chew here. as far as I can think of it will be running both a + and a - for each speaker then some amps. which should be cake. any pointers or tips are welcome. I just want to make sure that theres nothing im not thinking of.

What gear is in the car? what problems are you having? There really isn't any reason to run new wires and if you have never run wire through a door boot trust me its not as much fun as it seems. If its a mix of stock/aftermarket stuff its just a matter of getting everything to play together nicely but its not that big of a deal.

The mustang is a very easy car to run all new wires through, I just pulled out all the seats and panels first to make things easier

If you have never run wires/amps yourself before may be worth having a helper who has done it before to give you advise on stuff like soldering, heat shrink, etc

sorry it took so long to reply my internet at home is whacked out at the moment. Something in the stereo system is shorting out whenever I basically do anything (change the channel, turn the car on or off, change the volume, etc.) whenever it happens there's a loud pop and then everything gets really quite and soft then anywhere form 5-35 seconds later everything will come back normal. I am also getting a ton of engine interference in the form of an obnoxious hum that matches with the RPMs of the engine and not the volume of the stereo. There was wiring for an aftermarket amp in the car to which I connected an amp with plans for my subs but the hum got worse but the pop was barley there. I then just unhooked the amp and the humm is not as bad but still there and the pop is 10x louder.

What is the equipment in the car?

Sounds like your loosing power on the remote turn on wire that tells the amp to turn on. Check the blue wires coming off the deck and be sure there is a solid connection. Try powering up the stereo while you have it out of the dash and see if you can get the pop to happen and then isolate it to a certain wire/component.

For the engine noise I would go look for the electrical noise condenser. It is a small cap that is mounted to the coil on my 94 but I am not sure on yours where it would be.
