Your drive belt... also known as a serpentine belt.
If you're starting to notice wear on it or cracking of any kind. Replace it now before it breaks on you while you're out and about.
goodyear makes a good belt but if you wanna cheap one then all the parts stores have them..with belts you kinda either get a good one or a regular one..not really any in between
I've always gotten either DuraLast or Gates. The off brands seem to do fine.
Replacing your serp belt is recommended every 30,000 miles or every 2 years.
Gotcha, I'll look for a Duralast or Goodyear, see what the stores got. That actually makes sense, I just hit 55k so I'm close to that every 30k replacement lol.
Yeah, but your car is also 18 years old... So, if you're following the recommended service plan, it should have been replaced about 9 times by now.
At any rate, I'm glad to hear you caught it in time. If that thing breaks while you're away from home, your water pump, alternator and power steering all die and you're basically stranded.
I had mine break on my cobra about a month or two ago. Luckily I was only a few blocks from home and I babied it back. Without the water pump turning, it'll overheat in no time.
