so, i finally was able to get an appointment with the shop and they told me it's running rich which is causeing the surging idle and the popping sound at higher rpms and it bogging through the whole rpm range. does anyone know what could cause this richness? It really seems like a vac leak, but i wasn't able to find one. The shop is still working on finding the cause, but i figured i'd ask you guys also.

Might be O2 sensors. Do you smell stale gas sometimes and does the car hesitate sometimes? My O2 sensors are shot right now, but a lack of money is preventing me from replacing them :crying:

well, i had checked the codes and the O2 sensors didn't show up, but i have some newer ones i can put on also. The maf was also prettty clean looking.

I don't have an afpr yet, i'll probably get one this weekend though.

it barely even runs when driving it, it would stumble a lot and the idle would be everywhere.

just checked with them and he on the passenger side when he pulled the plugs that two were fouled nad the other two looked like they weren't even getting any gas. does that mean valvetrain or injector issue?

well, he said it wasn't getting any fuel to two of the sparkplugs though...so i'm thinking it wouldnt be the fuel pressure.

i am thinking that if two of the plugs arent getting any fuel then it could be your injectors. i dont think its valves because you be able to hear a stuck valve. do you have high miles or been running bad gas through it? reason i am asking is that i have never had an injector go out on any of my cars. even my truck which has over 200,000 on the clock

i'm going to go out there on sunday to check it out. i've been reading about rockers and what happens when they are too tight, i think that may be the problem. I'm not sure about the whole plug thing he was telling me though...

First thing is always check the basic stuff, ie, valve clearances, plug leads, rotor arm, timing etc, as you say its confined to a couple of cylinders it should be easy to narrow it down.
