running rich

Well its been one thing after another. My cars been down for about 3 weeks, ive replaced the maf, ignition control, coil, new wires, gone through 2 sets of plugs in the past week due to it fouling them out. The car has a rough idle and runs rich, ZERO trouble codes. It starts up and as soon as you give it gas itll break up, a crapload of black smoke and as soon as you let off it dies. I also just replaced the oil pan gasket, have no time to work on it and was charged freakin $290 for it. Ive about had it, i just want it to run right and tired of all the chevy fans in my family poking fun. Oxygen sensors maybe? But no codes!

check your fuel pressure regulator, my aeromotive one went out on me once, it wouldn't hold pressure and it wouldn't start unless you held the gas to the floor and of course you had to keep the pedal on the floor and popped and puffed black smoke and when you released it died. when you do the fuel pressure check, do a key on engine off and watch the pressure climb. it should stay at whatever you have it set to. if it immediately falls then your regulator has crapped out. my pressure now stays built up even over night so if yours is falling to zero within 2 to 3 minutes it's bad. i dunno give it a shot before you buy an ecu.

Dangit, now it wont start. I dont have time to check it and labor on the car is hella expensive! The plugs are soaked and the spark is pretty weak, could it be the dizzy. But would that still cause the richness? How common is a computer going bad?

dude those are the same issues that my car had when the regulator went out. check the fuel pressure, you don't need it to run just key on engine off and let the fuel pumps do their thing. if the regulator is working pressure will hold at the line. when i first encountered this, my car was down for weeks as i changed coolant sensors, rebuilt my MSD dizzy, swapped plugs, troubleshot wires, damn near everything. fuel was the last thing on my mind because i kept watching the pressure build and my plugs were fouling. try it and let's hear how the test was.
