Hey everyone, I just picked up my car last Friday. It's pretty fast if you ask me, but I'm begging for more. I have the following mods...

Engine:
4.6L SOHC with PI heads and intake manifold.
Comp Cams stage 1 cams
Forged pistons
Forged bottom end
Under drive pullies
Electric fan
FRPP ignition and plug wires
MAC true cold air intake
BBK 0 weight aluminum flywheel
150 WET shot NOS
BBK H-pipe
Catless exhaust with flowmaster turn downs

Transmission:
5 speed manual
BBK short throw shifter
Stage 3 clutch
3.73 FRPP posi rear end

Do I have to run 93 octane in it, with the mods listed?

I want to s/c it, but I've "heard" with the PI heads that the compression ratio is too high. True? What else can I do to this car to get the full potential of it? If I can s/c it, what is one of the "better" kits out there? Would a larger throttle body do any good? A larger cam? Has anyone priced out a KB s/c kit?

I'm not sure if this is the stock t/b or not.

And a random shot of my engine.

I would run 93 octane all the time if it were my car....

If your car really does have a forged bottom end that it should be able to handle a good amount of power...like 500 rwhp I would say.

You can run a blower but will need a good tune and an intercooler or meth kit would definately be a good idea.

for a lot less than a supercharger you can get some great mods on it. I'd say get a tb/plenum and longtubes. and then get a dyno tune

just a quick question in general, does getting pi heads mean that the oil filler hole would now be on the right side? I'm just curious because my friends with new edges, have it on the right side, yet 97aztecgt has it on the left like non pi cars. does that mean that if i do an pi head swap my oil filler will stay on the left side? o and by the way 97aztec justin is right, stay with 93 maybe a blower with intercooler should do the rtick(i.e. vortech) and maybe a handheld tuner might do it (sct, diablo, etc..) either way man your car is real sweet :thumb:

What is a plenum? I know that I want to redo the exhaust set-up with longtubes, but I want a huge power adder. What is this about the Meth Kit?

I was looking at some older threads on here about Kenne Bell not making s/c kits for the 96-98 Mustangs anymore? I'm pretty stuck on Kenne Bell for some odd reason, not really sure why. But is there another kit that they make to work on our cars?

No you don't but you won't see much benefit to it unless you are running a high compression motor or running boost.

i think it depends if it's romeo or **** (can't remember name)

to the OP, a plenum is the elbow that connects your tb to lower intake. you should get one if you plan on getting a tb as a tb won't do much by itself

First, get : LT's, X-pipe, 75mm throttle w/plenum, 80mm mass air, 24lb injectors, At least these.

If you indeed have a forged block, go with the S/C. I'd recommend Pro Charger, they make awesome numbers.

One thing you should have done, and by the look of you mod list you haven't, was Porting the PI heads, and a more aggresive cam. Stage one is basically like a stock cam, the power band shifts very little.

I don't trust the Meth kit, but thats just my opinion :thumb:, and you can call up the company and they will confirm this, the meth kit works good with 19 or 24 lb injector. If you go S/C and add the 60lb ones, it will only add 10 rwhp cause I already saw it happened to a S/C Mach 1. So think it over before buy stuff

I know for sure that I want to get the long tubes, but will I be able to use the larger plenum and all the others listed with the s/c? I don't want to have to "retune" over and over after getting different parts and setups. What would be a good cam to go with, also about how much does a p/p run for these heads?

Um...yea, If it were me I wouldnt waste a dime on bolt ons....get blown...with that forged engine you will be able to run a lot of boost and there would be no point in wasting money on bolt ons to make your engine breath better when you can just force more air in with a blower since your forged.

I just did a quick search for ProCharger and found...

$4,300 for the whole kit

+$350 for 42lb injectors

+$250 for the fuel pump

Assuming that the extras above are mandatory, but what about upgrading to the D-1SC ProCharger for $450? Worth the extra? What kind of rwhp should I be looking at with this kit?

Well, If your forged, the D1 upgrade is definately worth it since you will be able to run a lot more power.

Power depends on boost really....but assuming your PI with bolt ons, and a set of cams...I would expect you to make around 400 rwhp with 8 psi....maybe more, I dont really know how those cams affect the power you would make.

But with your forged engine you could probably run like 15 PSI without a problem and make like 500 rwhp

First get some new motor mounts, Your right side is broke.

And not to sound like an a$$, and Im not going to say you dont have all that done to your car and all....cant prove that... But you said you have PI heads and intake. That is clearly a NPI intake. The runner on a PI intake where the bolt goes through the plenum runs to the right side (pass side) and the NPI runs to the left (driver side).

+1....theres no way to know what you have...get some 1/4 mile times and it will be a lot easier to tell if you have pi parts atleast.

I dont know how you would be able to tell if you have forged internals...I mean, if you dont your gonna blow the thing up.

You don't need a meth kit, intercooler, or 700 octane gas to run a blower. If you want a blower, keep the boost to 10 psi or less and have fun.

And everyone should have a good tune... I never understand that phrase "you'll need a good tune" is there some cheap crappy tune you can normally get by with?
