Hey guys its me again. well as it states the shit hit the fan, well my tranny died tonight... First is gone and 2nd will only engage at like 3500 rpm's. Anyone have a spare 4r70w laying around? let me know ASAP please. Thanks

i would sell mine if i had my PI motor 5 speed swap in.. it'll be prob new years before i can sell it.. its got a nice SK in it to :dancing6:

Thorco ok i'll do that. anyone else?

Not going to work, cost to much to ship and it was in a v6 which means a small block ford bell house for the tranny :(

Yeah don't you have the trans and clutch kit now?

Sorry about your luck bro, you never know with those thing's, sometimes they'll go a year or more like that, sometimes a week. Your in North Corlina?

Well my dad got mean... he said since the car is still technically in "His" name he said that i couldn't put the 5 speed in... wish he would have imparted that knowledge a while back before i spent all that money... regardless i checked on get it fixed and the lowest estimate i got was around like 800 bucks... :( not a very good number so either i'm gonna find a used low milage 4r70w or i'm going to get it rebuilt.

So yea, tell me or pm a little about your tranny :) i might be interested b/c i don't have the funds avalable right now anyway. Just tell me milage and stuff like that... was it well taken care of? fluid changes on time? what shift kit? any issues what so ever? Since your in SC that would be sweet.... not to bad of a drive to get it :)

Yep in the great state of NC :) Yea it started acting up a couple months ago and then it was fine for about 3 months then wendsday night it slipped one time and i really didn't catch it... i was like wtf was that? then thursday on the way to work 1st completely fried and second would engage at like around 4k rpms... so it was like a 4k stall till the second wore out trying to get it home... thank god it made it to the drive way... and there it sits. Now i'm driving an escort or whatever with bad cv joint :comando:

its a transgo HD2 kit.. 100k miles but it jams gears solidly every weekend.. beat many a 5.0s and cars with it. It was recently flushed, and the valve body redone aswell as all the service upgrades that werent exactly 'warrantied" by ford, just made known that they could fail. Sounds like yours could have broke a spring or got the valve body clogged up.. if i end up swapping the PI motor and 5 speed in i'll be more then happto hook you up ;)

I'm pretty sure the bands fried in it... it started pretty slowly last thursday with it engaging around 2500 rpms and then it went to like only above 4k... and the fluid went from nice and red to a metalic grey collor... the bands got eaten up. Let me know... i got a lead on one from a 00 or 02 with like 30k on it for like 300 so i'm looking at that too... if i can get it to work with a machanical speedo.

well guys i got my tranny... it supposedly came out of a 98 gt with 22k miles on it and it was wrecked. I got some of the info if you guys could double check it b/c i don't know a thing about checking...

On the Tag: VIN: 1FAFP42X3WF115288

On the Top of the bell house it has 38 in big cast in letters

On the tail shaft it has 47W in big cast in letters and then it has RF-F3LP-7A040-AA Then BASIC 7

On the side by the black box thing it has RF-F7AP-7006-AA

Tag on the passengers side: PKE-AB F8ZP-7000-BA 011770 87 "in big letters"


If you guys could give me any and i mean any info on this tranny i would apriciate it. I has a warrenty and it came from a reputable salvage company so let me know please. I hope i didn't waste 700 bucks.

O and i did a quick thing on carfax to make sure it was the right car and it cleared for a 98 coupe gt. could anyone carfax it and confirm the milage? or the history of the car? i think some people on here has the unlimited carfax thing. Thanks guys.

She's hibernating in the garage, I did just put pics in the member's ride section. It's 16 effing degrees outside here, and the heater don't work in the truck, coupled with the custom iron oxide lightening system makes me very pissy during driving..
