If your body is screwed then a donor car will be ok since all body and glass is the same.
You can take a cheap V6 donor car and completely strip it then piece by piece swap everything over from the Cobra. If you have the time and patience thats a good way to learn everything there is to know about your car.

Now the downside is the Vin will be a V6 car and not a Cobra so it will have little value but it will get you cheaper insurance.

I'd swap everything into the V6 body. A V6 with a swapped 4v won't be worth much but neither will a salvage title Cobra.
