There are mixed reviews on it. I've done it with good results, but others have noted they washed down the cylinder walls and seized the motor. The argument is that its like the motor running in a super rich state, where the walls get washed down by gas, a powerful solvent.

However, running it through your gas and oil would be just fine, most anyone agrees to that.

enjoy the smoke show. they now have seafoam where you can spray it into ur vaccum system....but i perfer to suck it through the brake booster, the booster nozzle fits perfect into the seafoam can...make shur todo it while the eng is warm not hot or cold and let it sit for a few mins befor you restart it....also it will be normal if its hard to restart...i dont bother with the crankcase unless ima change the oil, and even then too expensive to use seafoam when you can get a whole quart of motor flush for under 3 bucks..

This happened to me too on my 2002 Galant but it is just because the car miss fires and all you have to do is unplug the battery for a few mins and plug it back in and the code will go away. it is just the computer thinking you have a miss fire and to get it fixed. don't worry it is just the sea foam fludding the motor.

Don't worry just pour it in the vacuum until the car stalls and let it sit for 5-15 mins. If you cant stall the car just jump in and turn the key off after you pour 1/2 of the bottle in. then when you start it you should rev it or drive it till the smoke goes away. I like to rev it at 2500 or so.

orrr dump it in while still sitting in the autozone parking lot and watch the smoke show as you leave haha. that was incredibly fun. but i do NOT recommend it on a main street like we did its kinda dangerous for other drivers ;)

I don't think it does shit. A smoke show to make the user feel like its doing something.

When I did it I sucked the entire can into the engine. Ran it. Had no issues but still used the opportunity to change my spark plugs. Ran a little crisper after that lol..

but man what a smoke show.. I didnt sit in my driveway for only 2 mins. Then went to drive it at various speeds. Pulled out of my driveway and some BMW came flying up onto me... Needless to say he had to stop dead in the middle of the street because of that action lol..

I was like.. Q! Where is the smokescreen button?!!?!?

Of course i had 116k on the clock at the time with it never being done or so.. Ive never heard of a cobra locking up its engine while doing it. I think its different from car model to car model I guess..

Good luck and have fun man!

just incase..

Ok, you all wanna know about Seafoam. Seafoam is this stuff that is used to dissolve carbon deposits in your combustion chambers and will do the same on the IRMC's pretty well. I was sceptacle at first, but then I used it and WOW, what a difference on my 96 Cobra. It can be bought at most autoparts stores. People say to put it in the gas, but then it's just like injector cleaner and doesn't do shit barely. I was told to use the PCV valve to suck it into the motor, so that's what I did.

Step 1: with the motor off, simply pull the PCV hose out of the DRIVER-side valve cover, but leave it connected to the manifold.

Step 2: Open the bottle of Seafoam (the fluid, not the aerosol spray kind) and put the end of the PCV hose into the can, while keeping the can as upright as possible at first. You'll need 2 people, one to hold the can, one inside the car.

Step 3: Start the motor for about 12 seconds. This will suck all the contents out of the bottle into the motor. The can-holder should signal to the person in the car to turn-off the motor as soon as the can is empty. The faster you turn it off, the better. You'll notice that the motor will nearly die when it sucks in the Seafoam, this is normal. Seriously, it'll work fine after the process is done.

Step 4: Let the car sit for 30 minutes with the engine off.

Step 5: MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN A VEEERY WELL VENTILATED AREA. This will cause quite a smoke-show. Start the motor, let it idle for about 30 seconds. The engine will be sluggish and want to die, but will usually stay running. After 30 seconds or so, raise the RPM to about 2800 and hold it there until you feel the motor start to rev more freely (usually about 20-40 seconds). This step makes lots of smoke. That is all the dissolved carbon blowing out.

Step 6: Take the car out for a spin. Go WOT as soon as possible. This should clear the remaining contaminates.

Step 7: Drive the car around at different speeds and RPM's until it feels like the car is running like normal. After 10-15 of driving, you should notice a large increase in power, more smoothness in revs, and an all-round better running motor. After 74,000 miles I did this, and it felt like the engine had gained 20 horsepower, even though it was probably just underpowered with carbon before.

A can of Seafoam is about $4-5 and the can looks old-school. It has ornate style writing and kinda resembles an old shaving-cream can. Ask the store people, they'll know. It should be by the injector cleaners, etc.

Like to know where you shop. Local AAP has it on sale for $7.99 this month and that is the cheapest I have ever seen it.

Why did you decide to do it? Are you IMRC's stuck or something?

Just fyi, a seafoam wont cure them if they are sticking. That being said I'm sure It cant really hurt to do it.
