I have noticed since I did my exhaust(bbk shorty's, magnaflo catted x, and dynomax side exhaust) that my center consol gets fairly warm. I am not afraid of the plastic melting but it is hotter then it was when it was stock last year. Is this a normal thing or should I be worried?

2nd is I bought a hurst short-throw shifter which feels great when going through the gears but if I want to start slowing down and get it in 2nd, if I let off the clutch at any speed greater then 40 it kicks it out of gear. I tried adjusting the stops but they seem to be ok. Is there something I am missing or are hursts all like this?

I noticed the carpet under my center console gets warm too, i just thought it was always like that.

something has to be wrong with the shifter though, I wouldn't think that would be right.

doesn't do it all the time but it is definitly differnt from the stock.

I was just assuming since I went from an h to an x pipe that the different shape was holding heat in or something

oh no, that is still there and good. I had to trim the center of it out but it still has a tighte fit around the shifter. How would that kick it out of gear?

it wouldnt but if you left that out, that would be where your extra heat is coming from.

as for kicking out of gear, i dunno. like i said before my friends fox does the same damn thing in 2nd. any downshift above 30 and any time you corner in 2nd it will kick out.

must be a hurst thing.

i'll keep my stocker until it falls apart. i never really saw a need for a short throw.

So you're not trying to row a boat and have a short throw to bang gears. :icon_rr:

Well if you like to get on it and slam gears, a short throw is gonna stop you from screwing up your transmission synchros.

i like to get on the skinny peddle from time to time. my trans still shifts fine i can use one finger to put it in and out of gear. i've also only missed a gear 3 or 4 times in 2 1/2 years.

i also like my car to stay in the gear i put it in, and not pop out of 2nd around corners and on decels.
its just my opinion on the matter, if it aint broke dont fix it. if it breaks then upgrade. lastly if and when i do get a short throw it will be a mgw.

i have no center console right now, so the shifter is exposed. at times, it gets hot enough that you can't hold your hand there. i dont want my new tranny overheating, hoping this is normal

lol, if he ever gets to drive a car with an MGW he'll change his mindset... If I wasn't trying to keep all roush parts on my car (my car has a roush shifter), I'd throw my MGW blue handle on.... I miss how short the throws were on that, nearly half of the roush shifter even.

as i said above if i ever end up buying one it'll be a mgw. i dont have a problem with the idea of a short throw it would just have to be the right one.

I understand. Just letting you know after enough beating you could break something more expensive than a shifter.
