hey guys its been a while since i posted on the website ive been busy lately with school and work and other things but i just recently ran into a problem. my car does need an alignment and i got cc plates sittin in my garage but im pretty sure that has nothin to do with the issue. i was getting on the expressway yesterday and punched it and got to about 100mph by the end of the on ramp jus messin around with a camaro haha and i still had it floored and i looked down at the stick shift cause it was shaking violently, it was so bad that it popped out of 5th into neutral without me even touching it. it doesnt shake at all till i get to about 90+ and it starts to get bad. ive also noticed recently that when my car is in nuetral and im coming to a stop i can hear the shifter hitting something making some sort of tapping noise. does anyone have any idea whats wrong? the car drives perfectly fine and shifts perfectly fine. it had a brand new rocket clutch installed about 10,000 miles ago. any advice would be appreciated!!! thanks guys :sad5:

could be loose drive shaft bolts, worn u-joints, harmonic balancer going bad, tranny/motor mounts.

My guess is tranny mount, U joints, or driveshaft out of balance. My whole car (and pedals) would vibrate at 80+mph BAD and it happened to be an out of balance driveshaft, go figure!

Shaking at 90 m.p.h. My Advice! dont drive at 90 m.p.h. you are just asking to get into an accident and tranny vibration will be the least of your worries....

As fas as the tranny mount they are fairly inexpensive about $40 and you could do it yourself with a floorjack

well i hope its just the tranny mount then. could be the driveshaft though because if anyone recalls i went off the road into a ditch about 3 months ago and then back onto the road so the driveshaft couldve hit...just got all the body work done last month.

OK, grow up. Roll racing is for chumps, street racing is stupid. Don't drive like an Idiot. If something happend when your going 90, you would end up in a DITCH AGAIN!!! If you don't value your life enough for you to drive within the limits, then take in to account the others who's your risking and the effects it could have. I don't care if I sound like a dick but, your car will break, parts will fail, and if that happens at 60 it can be sketchy at best. At 90, your done for and so is anyone else around you.

Grow up and respect your life, and if not then your life isn't worth risking it for others!

I have the same problem but its at lower speeds. Check all your surrounding mounts, I cahnged Ujoints, tranny mount and just found out my motor mounts are shot. Get the car in air and start looking closley at the rubber mounts.

check the harmonic balancer first, as it is a pretty common occurance for these to go bad. and its the easiest to check/service/replace.

then inspect the tranny mount, replace if needed

if that doesnt help take out the driveshaft, take it to a balancing shope. They will balance, weight, and service/replace the u-joints.

While you are under the car inspecting the tranny mount, just grab onto the driveshaft and see if it wiggles/jiggles. that can be a sign of a bad u joint.

I have heard aerostars have an alunmium d/s and all you have to do is swap out the yoke that goes into the tranny. I cannot confirm this personally but it might be worth cking out

to add to duffy : dude you have a nice car, keep it in a controlled area, and dont do 90 until you re-balance then driveshaft.

Like above, check the front u-joint. My fox and a buddies SN car both needed front joints within a week of each other, makes them vibrate.
