Shipping Help?!

Hey guys, its come time for me to part ways with my hood. It's bitter sweet because it's been on my car since day 1 but I'm glad to finally move on to bigger (not really) but definitely better things! I have a buyer lined up already but he is in mid pennsylvania and i'm in michigan. Driving isn't an option so it comes to shipping.

I know for a fact that Greyhound is without a doubt going to be the cheapest, however, I was wondering what you guys have done in the past to make sure that when shipping a piece like a hood, it not only gets to the destination in 1 piece, but also gets there without damages! PLEASEEEE If anyone has any experience shipping a hood successfully, help me out!

Go with Fed Ex or UPS it will be costly but nothing I've ever gotten from then was damaged, not even the box

get a large enough box for the hood and bubble wrap very very very good just in case....Tape the bubble wrap around the corners of the hood

have the people put a fragile stamp on each side of the box...

greyhound is fine. I shipped my Fiberglass t1 spoiler that way all the way to Florida.

Here's what you do. You wrap it up in a blanket, put it in the back of a truck, get in said truck, drive to mid PA, drop off trunk, swing by my place have a few beers, sober up get back in truck and go home.

Not sure if greyhound is prepaired for a shipment that large. I am trying to imagine them putting it under the bus, or in it and I am not sure that would happen.... But with greyhound I have found they are more carefull then the throwers/handlers at usps or ups. I know alot of people that use to ship fragile RC airplanes with it and never had an issue.

Greyhound WILL NOT ship a hood, Ive tried. Your best off delivering it or shipping it fed ex. DO NOT use UPS!! I had our local driver fired for kicking my boxes of parts from summit out of the truck onto the ground!!!

first off, a hood doesn't go regular UPS ground. it goes freight so its not the same people Venomized.

secondly Fedex drivers are all sub contractors, UPS is paid employees. there are bad eggs in every bunch but fedex doesn't care about their employees so why should they care about the company?

thirdly, there are tons of freight companys, do a search for freight companies in your area. get a box to fit the hood in and wrap it very well in bulb wrap. put fragile over the box.

I work for a freight company and i know for a fact shipping it UPS Freight will get it damaged big time. If you wanna send something you care about send it with the smaller popularfreight companies. They TRY To take care of there customers freight. BTW, i worked for UPS FREIGHT also and the part timers only get paid $10.50 and its a high turn over rate.. so your freight/hood is not even on the 18 yr old 10.50/ hr mind when hes moving it on the forklift. The box might say, "NO FORKLIFT" but please believe it will be moved with a fork lift wither you like it or not. Companies like UPS Freight only care about how much freight is packed onto 1 trailer. Not how safe its loaded. There in it for the cash and if that means squeezing your hood box beside a sharp glass clipper blade... it will be done.

Secondly, if you want to ship a hood DO NOT.. I REPEAT DO NOT ship it in a box. It will get damaged big time because of fork lift drivers scooping under it and accidentally poking the contents of the box. Somehow get a big skid and build a crate for the hood and the top concave so nothing can be stacked on which might damage it if the crate clasp because of stacking.

It does go freight but its still UPS freight.

I have never had a problem with fedex, they have always handled my stuff with care. FedEx is usually cheaper for freight as well.

Ive always been a firm believer in delivery myself if I can. I drive 3 hrs to chicago constantly to pick up large items.

if they don't throw your box.. there's a reason why most companies use UPS and not FedEx, especially for car parts, because they cant chance expensive parts being broken

We actually use FedEx and have very good luck with them taking care of us, now we also use UPS but like I said our main shipper is FedEx.
