If its not pinging on 87...sh1t I would advance it to 16* and run 92 lol..

If your happy where it is and there is no problem, don't fix what isn't broke. :)

check the fuel when you go and get it and check the ethanol content from that particular station i know in mass its ATLEAST 10% ..so it can change state to state

you need to check the amount of ethanol in the fuel when you buy it. Each state has different regulations for how much is suppose to be in it per gallon. Ethanol burns differently and reacts differently to compression and combustion then gasoline

When would I be looking for pinging?

when the car is at operating temp. and your hard on the throttle. detonation (pinging) would sound like BB's in a soda can

no not always...if it starts detonating you should be able to feel it as well as hear it. If your letting it detonate till you are hearing a loud noise like that over and over, chances are you are gonna do some damage to your pistons anyway. I've got my timing set at 14* i usually always run 93, i have ran 87 in it before though, without detonation. But during the summer i would always recommend using high octane fuel. Over the summer even with 93 in my car i would get some detonation when it was really hot outside (usually above 90*)

Cant get 93 here in Maine anymore just 91. ever since the $4.00 a gallon summer its been gone. Can still get in in N.H though so I always fill up on the way back from the track.
