thats strange and not from what I have read. I have the dynamax system myself which is supposed to be the best flowing of the side exhaust but a good traditional system always seems to dyno more hp and tq. It is probably a step up from the stock system but I would still expect a standard system on a similar motor to pull more then me.

Spin Tech's set up is the best I've seen, with Magnaflow's being second. Borla is pretty good, too. There's a lot of tech and info about side exit stuff on the Roush forum from different setups members tried over the years. After switching my car to 333SCS from Spin Tech, I'd never do another set up.

Side exit actually has one less 90 degree bend compared to an over axle set up... it's a lot more free flowing as far as piping is concerned. Mufflers vary, but that part is up to which one you like the most or want to pay for.

this is the first time I have ever heard anyone say that about them, and that is after I spent a couple of years looking for my kit and researching it as well. I can't find the flow-chart numbers I remember seeing years ago when I put the kit together but it was not a choice I made for the choice of performance as much as it was for looks.

Depends how it's run. If its a spin tech style muffler where entry and exit are on the same side of the muffler maybe not but in the borla svo kits they are the s-type muffler mounted basically right off the x pipe and then a 70 degree is bend towards the rear of the skirt. That's what my plan was. Get a couple of the magma pack glass packs and run them as far forward as possible and then straight out to the skirt. Any loss of torque or power in that configuration must be loss of back pressure.

that is what I am thinking. The dynomax style I have doesn't save any bends. IT comes in the muffler, has to take a 180 degree turn out, then makes another 90 degree bend to go out the side.

Sounds freakin badd-ass though and makes burn-outs a little more exciting blowing the smoke out the side.

Ah I thought they were. So they use a 180 setup as well. I like the idea of the custom design better. That's what I plan on doing with a set of magnapacks.

I don't think the same side in/out mufflers hurt performance like people think, it's just exhaust gas I really don't think an extra bend is going to make or break it.

the looks and sound of my borla setup outways the maybe 2hp i may or maynot have lost by about 1,000,000. I have also always heard there is a loss. but if so I cant imagine its much. I do need to get me some of those SFC from spintech though.
