:icon_rr: Hello, I'm Mo

I recently picked up a stock 94 GT convertible automatic (catback flows are the only mod). I want to get a little more power out of it, nothing crazy... maybe 200whp, with 250+ torque. It is going to be a daily driver, so drivability and fuel mileage are still important. I have been doing quite a bit of reading over the last week. I am also trying to do this low budget, but right! I have plenty of experience with cars.... was a tech for 15yrs hands on..

What I have planning
GT40 upper and lower(maybe cobra, or explorer), E-303 cam, shorty headers(if I can keep EGR crap), port/polish stock heads, TB (not sure what size to go with), MAF, cold air, and a tune.... maybe some 355's down the road. I am in the process of looking for a used long block to rebuild and do this build on, then swap it in once it's complete.

With what I am planning above, will I be close to that 200whp? I don't have to have 200, just close, and definately more than I currently have stock. I want to keep the EGR crap because of Texas and our inspection's.... can't have any CEL's causing me to fail inspection, or not meeting emission's requirements.
Your input and advice is appreciated. Not looking to build a street rod, just something a little more fun for my daily ride... and to get my tinkering fix  I have been doing bike's for the past 9yrs, since leaving the hands on side of the automotive business. But I still have two more bike's to build... but don't tell the wife :nono:

You will probably be close but being an auto it will rob more power out if it. As far as a TB a 65 or 70 would be fine

Thanks for the reply... at least I know I am not too far off, and can plan my budget too!

with a lil tuning you'll def be at your goal on those mods. Might wanna consider a smalll stall converter as well so you can actually get the power to the ground.

I don't know about out there but the guy who i use for my port work is a bit pricey ( hes REALLY damn good and he and every one else knows it ), seems to me if your going to go through the trouble of porting a head for the price you could spend little to no more money and go after market or at the least 351 heads and get better flow. Ive seen procomps ( never used myself ) edelbrock , dart (cast heads) go for $500-$650 used and 351 heads as low as $50... someone correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be a better deal? I understand you aren't looking for a drag car buy if the money is going to be close... why not ? Also again i haven't used this myself but i know ppl who have and liked them if you can find COMP Cams polymer intake manifold used you can typically pick it up cheaper than GT40's

theres one locally for $130. As far as the headers , if you want to keep the EGR , stay away from fox body headers and you should be ok from what I've seen. As for as the block , if you don't want to spray it 50resto.com has a budget short block for $599 i want to say , just not rated for N20... outher wise seems it would fir the bill for what you want. If its an auto and you want it a bit more fun to drive might want to consider a shift kit also. Hope this helps

Instead of working the stock heads i'd suggest picking up some GT40s. Like said above any 94/95 header will have the EGR bung you need.

i got a good dyno tune from local mustang shop with just a couple bolts on (cai, headers, pullies, full exhaust, msd cap and rotor kit, 70mm tb,) and before the tune i got 243rwhp and 260rwtq. i didnt think it would be no where near that but after the tune i ended up with 265rwhp and 312rwtq. just installed a set of 3.55 3 days ago and im pretty satisfied with it now
