some people just have no idea what they are talking about. I was getting my new tires mounted today and this guy was waiting along with me, he saw my car go in the shop and saw me watching it. He asked if it was mine and i said yeah.
He first asks me if its a 4.6 2 valve right? and i said yeah
He goes "you know what you should do to that?"
Me: "What?"
Him: "Bolt up some 3 valve heads to make the engine reach its potential"
Me: "Do you mean 2 valve PI heads?"
Him: "No you gotta get those new 3 valve heads and bolt them right up, it unleashes alot of power."
Me: (Nods head accordingly until he finishes) "as of now i have PI h/c/i waiting to be built up in my basement"
Him: "yeah i cant wait till i get a 1973 mustang, i think those are probably the best years for the mustang, right now i have an 86 that needs to be painted."
Me: (nods accordingly until he finishes) "yeah, thats pretty cool, good luck with that, have a nice day"

he was a really nice guy, but has no idea what hes talking about

I havent seen anything on the net showing benefits of using 3 valve heads ( like the newest stang v8's use.) or if even possible

I've had ricers tell me not to worry about breaking anything unless I've got "all" the aftermarket parts. ::)

....to make it better this is coming from a kid who blew a headgasket in his eclipse with a cold air intake and trash can exhaust, oh and 2 12" subs.

yep, plus his CAI is carbon fiber, 6" tach, short throw shifter, oh and it's an Ebay exhaust.

He also told me that I should put a Stage 3 cam in my car as it sits, no supporting mods.

It's actually entertaining. I nodded my head and agreed the entire time. He just never quits. He also told me I need new tires because my drag radials are "worn out" when they're practically brand new. :hammer:

many people have done the 3V swap and it will makes around or as much power as a 4V would. not everyone knows everything, you just met someone that knows something you don't and someone that has one fucked up set of eyes. :hammer:

BURN! He's right though, the 3-valve swap has been done and does make great power. Sorry to break it to you, but he knew more about modular Mustangs than you do.

The '73 Mustang? Horribly slow and perhaps one of the most disproportioned vehicles ever built...

actually more because the induction on those things (05-06) are very restrictive.

its actually been done a couple times. and isn't as hard as everyone thinks.

if you disable the VCT and other lil stuff the 3v heads have that the 2v computer can't control the heads bolt right up. there are a couple places you can get the throttle hardware for the swap. i've even seen the 3v swap done to an early 5.4l block and than put into a stang.

tunning it isn't all that difficult, as you are just fooling the stock computer into thinking you have really well flowing 2v heads. there is a guy on a couple boards, 3v2000GT. he's done the swap himself.

although the guy at the shop made it seem over simplified, he was in fact kind of right.

stock 3v heads are better than any ported 2v head. to say otherwise would be an ignorant statement.

here is some vids of 3v2000GT's stang

http://videos.streetfire.net/videos/search/3v 2000 gt/page_1.htm

enjoy.
