I got my SpeedCal in the mail yesterday from American Muscle and decided to put it on this afternoon. I pulled the shifterbezel and all that stuff out, and put the wires through to underneath. Tried to hook the power wire up to the power outlet wire but I couldn't find the correct wire to use. I tryed using a test light to find the hot wire but it wouldn't work. Maybe the outlet's bad? Iunno, I haven't had the car long enough to need it. So I instead hooked the wire up to the constant wire for the radio because the instructions said something about using a constant source. So got all that hooked up and made my way under the car to feed the wires through and hook everything up. I got to looking and there wasnt a connector on the VSS thing on the transmission, instead it had the two wires going directly into the plug. The speedometer has been working so I figured that I could just plug the blue and green wires in that. I pulled on the wires a little so I could get a screwdriver to pull the contact lock out and when I did the lock slid back before I ever touched it with the screwdriver because it was broke in half and barely sitting in there. I went ahead and pulled the wires out and one of them had been messed up and they had soldered the connector piece back on (on one of the wires that go into the VSS). I stck the blue and green wires into the VSS thingy-ma-bob and then tried to stick the wires I just pulled out into the connector that came with the SpeedCal. The wire that had the soldered end didn't fit very well and wouldn't go in all the way so I pushed it in as far as I could get it in hope that it would work. And after getting everything hooked up, it didn't. So I got back under the car and pulled the connectors apart and got to looking at them. Both of them had two wires that went into the top (gray/white on the Speed Cal side and red/black on the the car side) And then they both had one black wire that went into two slots on each connector. I figured that those wires wouldn't do anything and took the red and black wire and plugged them straight into the S.C. connector (I bypassed the connector that came with it in other words) That didn't work. So once again, I got under it and this time, I switchd the red and black wire to make sure that wasn't what was wrong. And of course, that didn't work. I checked the red wire, and the box is getting power. So I'm not sure what it could be. I'm gonna see if I can find some connectors and a small contact lock thingy in a couple of days at the local part stores... but I want to make sure there isn't anything else I might have screwed up on. I'm sure that was a little confusing but I tryed to make it make sense.

I wish people would do stuff right the first time that way I wouldn't have to fix their screwups.

weird man, could be a bad box too, don't rule that out, the first one I got was dead, second one was good though. I wired my power to the cigarette lighter wire that way it doesn't drain the battery when the car is off the rest was smooth, did yours come with instructions? I got my from dallas mustang and it came with everything.

I got mine from Dallas Mustang and never got it to work either. Of course I was trying to hook it up in my driveway in shitty weather which might of pushed the frustration level a bit higher. Oh well, its in a box waiting on me to buy a garage with a house attached to it. Good luck. You could try calling Dallas as they were very willing to help me with my problems but I just gave up for the time being.

In the instructions, there's a little note at the bottom saying that the box will drain the battery when its wired into the cigarette lighter, but its such a small drain that it doesn't cause any problems. That's why I assumed it uses a constant source.
Mine did come with instructions and it is the Dallas box, I just ordered it from American Muscle. I read those instructions and the ones on American Muscle and had them both under teh car with me, so I'm pretty sure I installed it about as close as to the instructions as I could be. I'm going to go get some new little things for the wires this afternoon and see if that doesn't fix it. If it doesn't, I'll get me another box and see if that helps.

Our cig lighters turn off with the key out if I remember right. That sounds like a strange issue you ran into though, keep us posted as to what happens.

So I'm an idiot.

I had the thingy-ma-bobs inside the computer revered.

Instead of 0011000000, I had 1100111111.

Well, at least it works now!

Well when I opened the box, the far left one was up. After looking at all the codes, I realized that the first one was always 0 so I assumed it was 0. And I was wrong... :nonono:
