Squealing Noises

Ok well ever since it started getting cold here, my car has been acting like a woman on her period. Its so unpredictable, and I never know when its going to run normal or sound like a straight up beater! Anyways, I am getting a loud squealing from what sounds to be the smog pump, I dont know if its crapping out or what, but I do not have cats, its wake the neighbors up loud, do you think smoggy is on its death bed? Also my air comressor is making shit load of noise. The air compressor pulley is also only half way spinning or struggling to spin too which I found out I will need a new one, but everyone keeps saying if I leave it alone its going to tear my belt right off, and cause more issues, anyone know why it would eat the belt or cause more issues? Its not like the a/c or defrost won't work it actually works well so I dont understand.

i have no words of wisdom about the smog pmp except remove it if you have no cats. but ck the idler first and make sure that's not making the noise. as for the a/c comp, the bearings are going out in the clutch thats why it could eat your belt. pull the belt and spin all the pulleys by hand to locate the prob. if it doesn't spin free or is notchy (except the water pump) then that could be the prob
