Hey guys.

I'm messing with my 67 while I'm home and was wanting to put the stereo I used to have in the 95 in it. There was a radio in it, an old cheapo dial radio with cassette, bawling, but I've already taken it out and I'm planning on cutting a hole and sliding my Kenwood in there. Anyways, I do NOT trust the previous owners wiring. It's pretty shoddy so I'm planning on taking it out, repairing what he did and I'd LIKE to make my own little harness for the radio. From the car, all I should need is a constant and switched power right? Could I run a couple wires from the battery, install some in-line fuses, and put a switch on one then just run the ground to a nice metal spot under the dash or something? I'd prefer not to hack into the wiring in there mainly because it's old and I plan on rewiring the whole thing in a few years. Having an inline switch instead of having it keyed might be a little ghetto but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I could hide it in the ashtray or something out of the way. This sound reasonable? I don't want to fry anything and I'm trying to stay as far out of the factory setup as possible. It might look redneck but would this even be safe?

Yup. Yellow is Constant, Red Switched and Black your ground. Then all you need is speaker wires........ White, Gray, Green, Purple....

I know that much, but there is no label, nothing on the box. fail. Oh well, getting dark in the shop. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

center is generally the constant, and one is the output, the other is the ground for the light. If you look really closely by the pins I am willing to bet there is a number/symbol or somthing to show what is what but if not use a meter to find out. You can test for continuity/impedence for the switced end to the center pin.

The switch didn't have any sort of numbering or anything on it. I did some looking online for info and found a diagram. The brass pin was the ground, center was constant, like you said, and then the other was output. Got everything wired up last week and its got tunes. Gotta build a rear shelf to mount the speakers on, a box for the sub, and start figuring out what I'm going to do for front speakers.

The thing about the kick panels is I want something less noticeable, less obtrusive too. Seems like a kick panel would get in the way of the dimmer switch too.

didn't know that.

It might take some work to get it around the dimmer switch or to move it, to put mine thre I had to move the hood pull but it was not a big deal. When I put the grill on it you hardly notice it to the point I have to point them out to my passengers and ask the to be aware not to put their foot through them. I have some friends that are just havel a step back from apes though and I had on buddy break the consol in my truck just adjusting his seat belt.... The great thing about them is the soundstage. By moving them down there, you move the drivers side almost a foot away from you while not changing the distance of the passenger side much. This makes the distance traveled by the sound almost identical and results in much better imaging then door locations. you will need to cut the doors to put them in there, there would be no cutting for kicks..

I thought I had a pic of them on my cardomain page. You loose the dead pedal but it doesn't cover all of it if that is what you are wondering.
