Stock 150 MPH, Cobra 160?

Just drove to OK, speed limit is 65. In TX, it's 70. I never really gas it to get up to my hwy speed. When I gradually increased, the gauge held still @ 61 MPH. It then jumped to about 69. I had no idea how fast I was going in OK. I just waited for a car I could follow. Sometimes it would go down to 65, not a lot though! In TX, it hit 70 just fine! The only new cluster I have seen is from 50resto. I think it was like $389. That's as little steep for the income I get! I think you can buy one from a junk/salvage yard. The only one I know of is that MPS place. I'm telling you, I don't know of any where I live. The 1 I used before is just an empty lot now. Do any of you know what I can do? I really don't like eBay that much these days. The last 2 big items didn't turn out so great!! I will go to that MPS place right now. Thanks!!

since yours is a 5.0 your going to need 1 from a 94/95. the others may look the same but i believe they have different pin assignments.

94-95. You ought to get a set of Cobra gauges if you're getting new ones.

How will my odometer work. I don't want to start over @ 0, if I can do w/o it. I know like on the Simcos, the original transferred over. Will it be like that? I am up on my mileage! I log every mechanical, etc.

I got to send my old ones in. They recalibrate it & send it back. Not sure if that will work? Anyone explain this also?

What you just sent a link to, you send in a stock set of gauges and they put whitefaces on it for you. That's not what you want.

Cobra gauges are factory white-faced so they don't have the "hotspots" like factory gauges with white overlays. What I mean by hotspots is areass where the bulb shows through more. On Cobra gauges, its all nice and even. I also believe the gauge runs up to 160mph. I doubt anyone goes that fast, but it looks good.

As for the odometer, you will have to swap them out. Go to MPS and send them an email asking about a GT cluster or a Cobra cluster, whichever you want. They'll have one soon if they don't already.

I sent them a thing asking for one. I didn't say Cobra, I hope I will when they reply. I have a lot of Mustang vendors saved on the desktop comp. I'm on a laptop now. I cannot remember that much. I forgot all about our whatever they are called. Like Art's, Amer Muscle, 50resto type places!

since you haven't done any testing on it, how do you know you need to replace it to begin with? have you taken apart the dash to make sure you connections are all good? have you verified your grounds? since this is the only affecting your speedometer, have you checked the cable to the tranny? i'd verify its bad before dropping that kind of dime.

i would think it would be the trans gear..... the worm gear is normally used for odometer and trip

I had bought Simco gauges for mine a long time ago, maybe in April-ish. My car was in the body shop for 7 months, so they just sit waiting on my car to get with me. I was having my in town mechanic to install these for me. He did & I would not recommend them to use with a convertible! The like indicator light don't shine bright enough to tell they are working. I think I didn't use the conv top, it would have been OK. I put it down as much as I can though!

When he put these on, the odometer & trip did not work. I think I kept these on for 1 night, went back to my UPR reverse glow gauges. The miles still didn't work. I asked y'all, of course. I think you said it could be the trans gear or the 1 behind the cluster. My cruise worked, so it wasn't the trans 1, or something. I bought that gear that goes behind my cluster & it was all chewed up! It works fine now!

My needles now:
I think the speedo never worked with the Simcos. That & the LH side, maybe. I don't really remember, I am just very pissed @ my POS car right now! I'd drive it off a cliff if I lived near one. Just been 1 thing after another since I got it back!!

I just ordered me a set out of a Cobra! $240 from MPS. How do those light up @ night? The guy I talked to said he thinks green. I hope so! Should get it 4-5 days.

Oh they are like my stock ones. Sorry but I've had my reverse glow ones from UPR on for about 6 1/2 years. All I remember about my stock ones are I think they were black. Other than that, I have no idea! Thanks!!

I love the look of those Mach gauges!!! Love my 5.0 too much, though!!
