Re: Matching gauges/close @ least...

I hope I get my Cobra cluster gauges pretty quick. I've already bought the 3-gauge plate thing for where my CD player was. I will buy a fuel level, water temp, & an oil pressure gauges. I am extremely anal now after my injury! I just want to get kinda close matching white face gauges. When I had my Simco clusters, I was going to get Auto Meter's NV gauges. I have no idea what to now buy. I was hoping y'all might know which ones I will need. Thanks a lot!!

Re: Matching gauges/close @ least...

The Cobra's will have the exact same green glow as factory GT gauges. NVs are green too, so it should match up fairly well.

And theres not a thing wrong with being anal haha

Re: Matching gauges/close @ least...

I know that it won't be a perfect match. Because I know that, it is OK to be a little off! I love everything about being so anal now!! Haven't found 1 set back. Sure it pisses my family off, kinda another good thing.

That's just it, I cannot remember my stock gauges. Like right after I bought my car, 8/2/02, they were changed out. Thanks!!

I got the 04-95 Cobra gauges today. I noticed right off they go to 160. Will it mess up how fast I am really going? My buddy with the 03 Cobra says yes. My mechanic who will put these in tomorrow says no. He said it so I'm thinking it might now. Eventually I want to buy a speedo calibrator from American Muscle. My friend says that just might effect gears & stuff. I was hoping 1 of you might know both ?'s.

Will it mess up how fast I am really going & will buying that calibrator fix stuff like this? Thanks in advance!!

It wont mess anything up. You just swap your odometer on it (to keep the miles right) and plug it in. Simple job. The speedometer will be as accruate as it was before.

You only need a calibrator if you have gears. So if you don't have gears, then don't waste your money.

Bobby, my mechanic, said you cannot swap the odometers out. I hate that my miles will be different. Just figured I would learn to live with it. If he can take out the odometer, please give my detailed instructions I can print off. He made a good point, last time when we started removing the needles from my stock clusters is when it went bad. I love how we painted the needles to all black! Since I don't want these Cobra ones to mess up, I decided I wouldn't change out stuff.

Do you have AIM? i ask cause is a lot easier and faster to talk.

i can sit here and type 100 pages and i might not be clear enough for you to understand it.

ima try . lol

Ok so you know the cluster is divided in three different sections correct?

when you take the middle section which is the one holding the speedometer, tachometer and odometer.
look at the back of it. you will see the odometer gears and motor, the motor that turns the odometer is plug to the speedo you need to unplug it and then unbolt 3 lil screws which they are really small, i had a hard time fiinding the socket for it.ill tell you the size of the socket tomorrow as it is on my dd and im not driving it today.

Just unbolt the 3 screws on the odometer, unplug the motor and transfer it to the cobra, not hard at all.
make sure to be really careful with the plug on the back of the speedo.

maybe 5 mins max. lol

Thats the PM Javi sent me when I was thinking about buying a Cobra cluster

yes you can swap out the odometers out. He may not be able to do it legally. There is just a couple of screws on the back of the cluster. It's been a couple of years since I did it, but it can be done.

If Bobby can do it, won't be any legal probs. Thanks! I'm printing that off.

That MPS guy asked me if he needed to roll the mileage back or forward? I thought is was an easy move, so I said no. I just thought that came off. Never really thought of it too much.

I decided to just not mess with it. I wrote down the mileage of both. When I handed him the print-offs. His fear was screwing these up as well. I would like for it to say the correct miles, I can add & subtract. I always will have to keep a calculator close. We all know I am not smart enough to do it in my head now.

I tried to pull up as far into my carport as I could, it is darker. I think they light up green. Not that bright though! I printed off those LED install instructions. Will doing that make them brighter? I didn't think I would ever do this, so I never really looked @ it more. I think it does this? I was hoping y'all could help me. Thanks!!

I think mine said like 126,950. The Cobras said 192,222. The laptop I am on cannot load my pics off my camera. I might do that later tonight. I think I'll like them. Like I typed, don't think the lights will be that bright. Still looks cool though!

Are the lights turned up all the way, dimmer switch that is? Since they are stock Cobras, they should be the same brightness as stock GTs. The LEDs will make them brighter but you have to remember that it will also make it Blue instead of Green. If you do buy the LEDs, I recommend geting a few more to go into your A/C controls so they match.

I thought you could buy the LED color that you wanted. I like green. I will eventually buy the Auto Meter NV gauges for my plate I got from Paul.

You'd have to get yellow LEDs to get the color you want. The lens that the light actually comes through is blue. So when you have white LEDs, you get Blue. But with the regular bulbs, they give off a yellowish light so yellow+blue = green

That kinda makes sense. I just cannot think about it too much. I know my limits on this new brain I have. If I were to read it more, it'd be as clear as mud. I'll look into this tom when I get those printouts. Looking @ it now will only make it worse. Thanks a lot!!
