I just bought a nx nitrous kit with pressure gauge, purge, window switch, remote bottle opener, etc.... What kind of numbers are you nitrous users putting down on the stock block? And on what shot? Just curious to see before I get it all installed and tuned. Thanks.

Your stock block is not the problem (I'm guessing you are talking about a 97). Your stock rods are. 100-125 shot is safe. Anything over that you are asking for it. I have seen people spray 150 shot and get away with it but others have not.

Im not really worried about the engine letting go. I plan to start with a 100 and see how she likes it. Then put in the 150 jet and she how that goes. It's a 95 gt 5.0 motor.... full bolt ons and what not.

The answer I was trying to get is what type of gains are you getting when using a 100, 150 shot, etc.... All motors react differently. Some gain 150hp from a 100 shot, some gain 150tq from a 100 shot. Just looking for examples.

The car should go high 11's with the 100 and low 11's with the 150. This is just to have fun before the built 331 and turbo goes in. :)

NX kits are usually rated at/near RWHP. Do the 150 shot. 100 shots are for pussies.

Every car is different. You won't know how it likes it until you spray it. I made 508 on a hci and 150 shot.

Paul.

I hear ya, but id like to make sure i get a few passes in before I put the 150 on. I wouldnt be too surprised if the motor lets go after a dozen or so passes, but if it holds ill definately work up to a 200 shot. :)

There is no reason why your motor would let go if you use the proper jetting and the motor is in otherwise good condition.

The only reason I say I wouldnt be surprised is because its has well over 100k miles(dont know cause the odometer stopped working at 82k). But it runs really strong and might be a winner. I guess ill see in the next couple weeks.

Doesn't matter. 100K miles isn't a big deal provided the motor is in good running order. I've sprayed 175 shot on a motor with 146K and it didn't miss a beat. Make sure everything is in good working order: you've got enough fuel, good and consistent compression on all cylinders, proper jetting, ignition in good working order, etc.

NX kits are excellent quality and as Paul said, the jetting with NX is different then NOS, Zex etc.

The numbers NX says is within a few hp or so of what it actually makes.

I agree with what Paul is recommending as well as make sure you don't have any vaccum leaks.

Thanks guys. I will let you know how it goes(wont be for a few weeks since i have a few other things to do). It ran a 14.1 at 96 mph @ 3150 lbs including driver w/ a 2.0 60'.

The car is now @ 3000 lbs including driver w/ full upr front and rear suspension and an extra 100+ hp. :)

When you say full bolt ons, what do you mean? Cause 14.1 @ 96 isnt a HCI swapped is it?

Re: Stock Block + Nitrous.

yea you wont get close to 11's with just 100 shot... Itll take at least 150 maybe more to even touch an 11 sec trip...

Lol I know for sure it will go atleast 11's on a 100 shot... if not then something is wrong..... I live at sea level, the car only weighs 2800 lbs and has full drag suspension..... (uca/lca, subframes, tq boxes, anti roll bar, coilovers on a for corners, chomoly k member and a arms, cc plates, bumpsteer, etc.... Once the suspension is setup= 1.5 60's for this hp ill definately see 11's.

All i was interested in was what were some other people with stock blocks putting down hp wise with these 5.0's. And since a few agree that nx rates their kit right on with their jets vs. hp, I got what I needed.

I will keep ya'll updated but it might be a few weeks since I work a lot and ive still gotta install the kit and get time to go to the track and then play with the suspension.
