I have been trying to hook my head unit up in my stang for 2 days. I'm getting signal out of the head unit but when I plug it from adapter to factor plug I get nothing. Any ideas? It worked before because I pulled the stereo that was in it out for the previous owner.

Ok I'll try it in the morning. But why would it work the day before and then poof nothing? I did check continuity from the radio to the harness on the stereo and its all good.

im curious if maybe your scraped a wire open, wiggled a ground loose, or if one of the pins is failing on the aftermarket adaptor.

I'm in no way an expert, but I'll try and help ya out best i can! :)

I'm installing a after market head unit. And thanks MustangChris for your help! Yeah no cuts on the wires and the adapter plug is new and the pins seem to be lining up. *scratches head*

Was it a mach system (3 amps) or a premium sound system (1 amp) If it is a premium system and you are not using the stock amp you dont need to use the square black plug. That actually feeds the amp. If you look in the compartment to the right of the radio you will see a junction of plugs that look like the flat one that supplies the power and such.(this goes right to the speakers) If you unplug this, you can then use the stock ford radio adapter (2 flat plugs). One will plug in to supply the power and ground.(you have this one already) and the other will plug into the part that you unplugged from the right. That should get you all 4 speakers running just off the aftermarket head unit. Now if you have a mach system, totally disregard all that Ive said. If you have a premium sound and are still using the stock amp then yes, you need to use that square connector, and I cant tell you why if worked before and not now.

blue wires.................. There are two in there and normally on the wire there will either be a white indicater stripe or sometimes in small writting it will have it label on it. Connect the amplifier remote turn on from the deck to the amp turn-on. More then likely you will get a loud popping noise when you turn the key on, we can fix that next if you want or need too.
