I bought a rebuilt 302 short block and it will be sitting for about a month or 2 before it gets installed in the Mustang. It is covered up with a bag. I do not want the cylinder walls to rust. Can I use WD40 and spray it on the cylinder walls? Or just use regular oil?

Coat the whole thing in oil, cover it with a clean trash bag and duct tape the end shut. It'll be fine.

It will be fine. Oil, wd, engine lube, etc. I stored my current shortblock for about a year in a bag in my garage.

I have 2 shortblocks sitting in my garage on stands, been there about 7 months. No sign of rust. I wouldn't worry, unless you're storing them outside. WD should be just fine.

Put on a stand, annihilate with fogging oil, wrap in a clean black garbage bag and duct tape it up. Will be good for months that way.
