Seriously, this is the absolute last time I buy anything from Ford Racing ever again. Their quality control is unbelievably terrible. I ordered a new spark plug wire set for my car, because I'm still chasing the misfire, and today it got to me from Summit. I come home, open the box, look over the wires and find this...

Now, I'm not a mechanic and everything, but I'm pretty sure a good part of a boot is missing on the coil wire. This is seriously getting ridiculous. Between Oil Cooler kit with not enough line to finish it and an ill fitting sandwich plate, a throwout bearing that sounds like it's got sand in it, a master cylinder that had a cracked reservoir, and now this I'm pretty sure I'll never buy anything from Ford Racing ever again.

I think they come like that... or at least remember seeing that before. Couldn't tell you why though.

You could just yank the boot off of an old one and put it on there.

Yeah, I just checked on the Ford Racing site, and that is in fact what they look like. I've had the Ford Racing plug wires on the car before though, and I don't remember having the coil wire look like that. I remember it having a long boot, on which you'd mount a locking clip so it stays on the coil.

Hey Paul, how do I change the boots?

I've got a set of wires in my garage that have probably less than 3000 miles on them. They're yours for the cost of shipping.

Thanks for the offer, but let me call Ford Racing first, and find out what the deal is, and why do the wires come like that.

up clip the terminal from the wires, (both wires) and crimp them back on

Just pull the old one off, spray a drop of WD40 in the one you want to put on, and slide it on there. It'll take you less than a minute.

I think I had to take off the long terminal and recrimp a smaller one, and then fit a boot over that.

That was the other option - I just didn't know if you had another terminal, or the crimping tool.

They come like that... Thats the part of the wire thats supposed to fit down inside an after market coil such as a Blaster 2 etc. They fit perfect if you have that type of coil... Our stock coils or after market coils can just use a regular type plug connector. Which like the guy said before me... The coil wire i got with my FR set is really long. But it makes it more universal. I assure you there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I've seen other brands look exactly the same way.
