So what do you guys know about stroker motors?? The past few days I have been debating going with an NA set up and have been looking into adding some displacement to my 302. There are a few short blocks around that are available for a great price. I wil be getting one if those to machine and biuld that way there will be no down time except for the install and if all goes well get the rest of the car ready for the Shelby meet this summer(prob won't get there though)

I first looked into a 347 and read that they have a tendancy to have a little more life expectancy than say a 331 because of the rod ratios. So if I decide to do this I will likely do the 331 as they seem to make more sense being a little more street friendly. It all could be relative though to what cam and things I also decide to use. I have not ever been this deep into a v8 motor the extra four pistons is a big deal... Not to mention liter size.. Lol so any help would be much appreciated.

The other option would be to keep the SC setup which i am in the process of rebiulding and just put another stock bore bottom end it and using and upgraded pistons and rods that would suite higher levels of boost. I think this would be the best option really but just can't decide.

Then there's the 351 option... That's another day though :)

If you guys have had any experience i would love to hear about it. I've been looking at kits and stage 3 looks to have decent packages along with the summit kits for the stroker hardware.

Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm going with a 347 myself personally. Never heard anything about them having a shorter life expectancy before. I know they used to have some sort of oil leaking issue, but that's a thing of the past so I'm told.

Kenne Bell 347 stroker FTMFW.

If built properly with the correct clearances you should never have an issue with oiling. My 347 does not use a drop of oil. The 347 will produce more torque and power then a 331. There is no down fall to running a 347 over a 331. Just be sure your clearances are set properly and use quality components, you will be fine. or you can just buy my motor!! :) see the classifieds..

I'd go 347 if its an na build, and put some good compression in, like 10.5:1 or so. I think I'd find the best heads and intake, and possibly pony up for a custom cam, but more then likely an off the shelf grind would work. Put some nice valve springs and rockers in so you can spin it hard, and I don't think your be diss dissapointed.

what injectors and cam should I go with, im pretty new to the v8 thing within the year so any info would be great. Def am planning on going with a rr setup.
I have also thought about just biulding a stock bore motor and adding all the goodies. Are there any higher compression piston i could look into or is the compression biult in the heads after a stock type piston?

There are tons of options available. I am personally a fan of je and srp. I have the srp sportsman series in my motor and they are great. as for the injectors, depending on how serious you plan to get with it either 30 or 42 # injectors will be fine..

Just plan everythng ahead of time, make sure its what you really want to do b/c you dont want to be changing your mind mid build. If you want to build it for NA put a set of heads on it that will give you higher compression with the pistons and if you want to boost it then you want heads that will give you a lower compression.
