are you replacing a current v8 car with this svo? don't use mpg savings as an excuse. i keep my v8 s and don't worry about mpg too much cause that is a lot of miles to drive before the savings occur. now i just look at the car as do i like it or not? if you like the svo, turbo 4, buy one. if you like a big block dodge, buy one.
here are some figures i use to help decide if a car purchase for mpg will save over a current vehicle or how long it will take to recoup that money spent to purchase.
using $3.50 per gallon for an easy to figure average fuel cost
1000miles/ 17 mpg 8 cylinder= 58.8 gallons= $205.88
1000 miles/ 25 mpg 4 cylinder=40 gallons=$140
that turns to a $65.88 savings per 1000 miles, $658.80 savings per 10,000 miles, $6,588. savings per 100,000 miles. i average 10,000 miles per year. that means it would take ten years to recoup spending $6,588.00, five years to recoup $3294.00.
not trying to be a prick but as you can see by my math, mpg is not a determining factor to me. it is barely even thought of as anything but, a sellers lie.
