I learned to shift without using the clutch in my dad's 04 diesel.. it seems to be a whole bunch easier in trucks for some reason. I'd also like to know what makes the low rpm grind though, I was thinking maybe old rear-end gears? Meh, I don't know anymore. I'm kinda like TxCobra with not knowing what the heck is wrong and what isn't!

Up shifting without using the clutch is pretty easy, just don't take it above 2000 rpm and pull the shifter down slowly and let the rpm's drop till it fall into gear.
Down shifting without the clutch is a whole other story.
As already stated, when the syncro's are going out you'll get a little grinding when going into gear.

let me ask this again for a more direct question. does anyone know What is causing the "blocking" while going into certain gears?

Just throwing this out there, try revving it then throwing it in first if your experiencing "blocking". Always does the trick for me haha.

usually it happens to me in third, rarely first. usually ill just skip third when it happens and go straight to 4th.

lol yeah i ressurected it, i couldnt find a post that related enough to my problem and i saw someone said "blocking" so i thought it was the perfect thread to bring bacck to life haha

Try changing the tranny fluid. I hear that helps alot, I need to do it soon, mine always grinds fifth if I dont come off the gas for a bit and let the RPMs drop.

You need to check everything with your clutch before you go replacing any parts inside your tranny. Could be a very very simple adjustment of the clutch and a lot of the times it is.

Yeah I have the same problems with the low rpm grinding and gear grinding at times. Thought it would help when I replaced the clutch, but it still does it. I just think T45's just suck in general.

Yea sounds like your syncros are going bad. when and if you change the oil put in some MTL (manual transmission lube) from redline oil. That stuff is amazing.
I never really get the block but in my old cobra It would seem to grind when it was cold 1-2. I would also get a chatter at low RPM but that was my clutch.
