I've been wanting to get rid of my AODE and put in a manual. I found this T-5 on ebay and it looks pretty good but the guy says he thinks it was used in a 4cl application. Is their any difference between a T-5 in a 4cl and a T-5 in a V8?

ya you dont want that tranny, you would have to swap your input shaft to make it work, and the 4 banger trannys are not as strong as the 5.0. let me find one of my post that shows all the specs on the t 5 tranny

^beat me to it, lol

I would wait for a newer one. Somewhere along the line Ford upgraded the T5's to make them slightly stronger. I pretty sure though that the 4 cylinder T5's had a different gear ratio and shorter input shaft than needed with the 94-95's. You might get away with a fox bell house and clutch set-up though or swap the input shaft. On another note though, I don't think I would ever swap a stock T5 into anything if you plan on adding more power, people break these things with stock power, though some people swear there T5's have lived with over 400hp/tq. Just be aware they are not all that strong....

Well I would love to have a TKO or something nicer but I cant afford it, you wouldn't happen to know a place where I could get a better trans for under $1,500 lol?

Not new, lol. You could always buy used, I see some decent deals every now and then, just gotta look. To do the swap I think you the the trans the bell house, throw out bearing, manual flywheel and clutch, clutch fork and cable, pedal assembly, a 5 spd computer and maybe the trans harness

^+1 i didnt think of that

Check out ebay also, I see swap kits on there all the time and usually there are decently priced. The will come with the t5 usually but if you really want to do the swap, that may be the way to go until you can afford a better trans. Just don't beat the piss out the t5 and it will last

Do some research on this topic.  Search here, the corral, stangnet etc...  EVERYTHING you are asking has been beaten to death 100 times over.  It'll save you a ****ton of time also since you won't have to wait for people to get around to responding.

How much are you willing to spend? A Tremec TKO 500/600 is about $1,800. The G Force is a great transmission if you want something that will handle more power then a T-5

I know I just couldn't find anything that answered my earlier question

Try harder. Again not trying to be an ass, just showing you that EVERYTHING you can think of has already been discussed ad nauseum and you don't have to wait to get the info. The Corral search feature is basically an comprehensive encyclopedia at this point if you are good with the search button.

You need to go to the Corral. Seriously it is THE best site for asking questions. Nothing against this site here, I much prefer this forum for talking about SN95 cars but for how tos and technical advice you can't beat the wealth of knowledge over there.
