Hey guys, i just picked up my t45 "thanks david" and i would like to know a couple things.

First off, it had some metal in the oil when we drained it and i would like to know where that probably came from. Also, could you guys send me in the right dirrection on a rebuild kit? i saw 2 on ebay but i would like to know what would be needed and stuff. Also, i heard you could do this rebuild yourself if you took your time? Is that true?

One other thing, could someone take pics of where the shifter fork comes out? i'm looking for the fork boot.... i have no clue what it looks like and would like to see it. Thanks guys.

Metal probably came from the fork, they get ground down a bit. There are some newer forks that are a bit stronger. I rebuilt mine, but you can't do it at home without either a press, or access to a press. There are some other tool's needed, I used to have the whole set, but sold them when I bought my T56, I got them off Ebay for 125.

I got a step by step video, and my rebuild part's here and there's lot's of info too,

I thought the forks were inside the bell housing ... not inside the case... ? am i wrong? How much do you think someone would charge to rebuild it if i get the kit..

The shift forks are in the case, and everything in the case come's out the front. It's what's refered to as a "front loader". The bellhousing is the front cover, pull the bellhousing and all the component's can be pulled out and messed with on a bench.

I would say you can get it rebuilt for about 200 buck's if you look around a bit, there are a few thing's too look out for though. Go to someone quality. My reverse input gear bound up when I did mine, I got stuck in reverse, had to back down the road for 2 miles or so, drop it, de-burr it, and do it again.

yea scarface said it was making a little noise for about 50 miles. So if the forks are whats causeing the metal... does that mean that they are going to have to replace the forks? How much is that? what kinda kit do you think i should get? Just syncro's , bearings, and seals?

I say it over and over again, i would skip the pain and expense and get a T56 in the first place :hammer: But in resonse to your question, the complete rebuild kit with new seal's, bearing's, synchro's, and I would add the stonger 99-up shift forks to it as well.

Well I know by now you are as cheap as they come, and you should know by now that I'll say rebuild it thouroughly while your in there... So that's up to you. I think the forks were like 50 buck's, the only place I could find them was Hanlon's site.

Mitchell you are referring to the clutch fork. There is no boot that I remember.

I'm pretty sure there is a boot or something that covers the big hole that is in the side of the bell. Plus its a lot cleaner than the surrounding area's

I get it dude, I understand and I've been there. Me personally though, I would just take longer and save more. You and I go around the subject frequently it would seem, just a difference in personalities.

Yea I understand and respect you opinion, its just hard ya know. Being bit by the go fast bug at 12 kinda sucks. Wanting to go faster for 10 years and not being able to do anything about it for 10 years sucks... Feels like i'm going threw a mid life crisist or something lol. I'm just wanting to get it together and i don't want it to happen when i'm no longer interested in it like my brother and his car....
