If they're stock, yes. If they're aftermarket, no.

Plus cats make the exhaust nice and quiet. :)

I had mine done away with. It went from OK to WOW!!! I would recommend it to everyone that can. In my town/state I can, I mean!

My front 2 was gutted, just simply cut out. My back 2 is just straight pipe.

I'm not running anything crazy, that would suffer because of the stock exhaust, I just want to free it up some, and make some more noise!

sound will get a little better, but performance; it'll get a pony or two but nothin you'll actually be able to feel, do you have the full flowmaster cat-back or is it just the mufflers welded into the stock pipes, why dont you just opt for a real off-road h-pipe, summit brand is only like $115

I just had a catted X pipe put on mine b/c it was way to loud but I had an instane set up anyway. I have a 94/95 O/R H-Pipe if you wanted to put that on.

I probably will this summer once I start working. And it's just the mufflers, I found them on a wrecked 03 GT in the junkyard and payed $20 for both.

I custom fabed an X pipe with no cats, there was a bit of a diff in power and a real nice growl

Yeah, if you want to make some more noise, take off the cat and it will be deeper/throatier. Most effective way to do it would be to buy an O/R pipe. If you want to see performance gains, upgrade to 2.5" pipes and get everything else... headers, catback, or just mufflers and custom mandrel bent pipes (that's what I have).
