So with my engine rebuild this winter, some new cams are definitely on the parts list. For some reason my car has stage 1 turbo cams (why even bother?). I'm looking for something in the stage 2-3 range in a blower cam. I want to narrow it down a bit before I talk to the guy who is going to be doing the tuning. My question is, I'm used to cams (in a sbf) having a higher lift and longer duration on the exhaust than the intake. HiTechs cams have a longer duration and higher lift on the intake side. What's the advantages and disadvantages of this setup? Or do they just have their numbers in a weird spot? I think I'm down between the HiTech and Cushman cams.

alot depends on the amount of boosthow your going to drive it and where your going to drive it. I used bullitt racing cams and had good luck. Talk to the builder but more importantly talk to the tuner....

Lol, luckily my builder is my tuner. I've been trying to learn more about these mod motors and I know I can just say "this is what I want" and have someone build it, but Id like to know "why" and "how" a certain combo works better than others.

Being a 2v with boost it will work well but you need to beable to manage the amount of air coming in and how it flows in. Typically blower cams will have a little lower lift and longer duration. I however cant help you with this at all. I never read up on blower stuff either turbo or super charger so I only know the "basics of cams, not so much specifics of power adder applications

Ok thank you for your help. Ill see if my tuner knows and if not ill just call the companies. It will still be N/A for about a year before I an boost it, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't run like crap with a certain cam profile before I put the supercharger on. Thanks again.

Im running comp270's and really like them a lot. I chose them because i wanted to make a decent amount of power N/A but i didnt want to have to change my cams if i decided to go with boost. A buddy of mine ran the same cams in his 03 with a intercooled procharger and made 460 at the wheels with just 6lbs of boost. I made over 300rwhp N/A so i would say these cams are pretty efficient no matter which way your leaning.

Ill have to check those out! I'm right at 300rwhp now so this might give me a nice little bump until I go FI.

I looked at the profiles and they are quite a bit different then the others I've been looking at. The lift is pretty small but it has TONS of duration. Duration helps low end power while lift helps top end, right? Or is it the other way around?
