ok, so I'm not going to get my car dyno tuned. $300 for a chip plus 3 hours or more on the dyno at $120 per hour is outrageous.

I want a pms, but, new they run $1000. Used i have seen them for $550-$650, but i dont like buying used electronics.

SO, finally i am looking into tweecer. i didnt realize they were as cheap as they are.

I am interested in the base tweecer and Tweecer RT. My question is, will i be able to figure out how to use this? how hard is it really? What is the difference between the RT and base? i dont really understand all of the lingo.

i have basic computer skills and rebuilt my own motor and can do anything else on my car, so will i be able to figure this out? it looks really cool and i want to buy it very soon, but dont want to get myself into something i cant do.

heres the link to the tweecer.

have you EVER tuned a car before?

You arent going to do SHIT for tuning without a wideband.... did you factor that into your prices?

just do yourself a favor and get it tuned professionally. you will be MUCH happier with the results

B.S. tune it yourself. So it'll cost more, and take longer (probably) no one care's more about your car than you. But you won't have to deal with a tune that's good enough because the dude wanted to go home, and you'll be able to continue to tweak and play with it.

I understand PMS is pretty user friendly, but I'll be using the Tweecer RT myself.

Another thing is, widebands are cheap now, and pretty neat to watch, but you can always rent the dyno, and use their wideband, or just read plug's like we did before widebands.

There were 8 second 5.0's back before dynos and widebands existed, guy's nowaday's act like these are mandatory thing's...

as for the PMS, it is user friendly but it takes all the parameters out of tuning, you cant control half the things you would want to control, with most chips there are way more parameters to use and tune with, the tweecer is hard to learn read a lot before you tune it, nothing like putting a bad tune into a motor and not knowing it untill its too late, as the guy above me said yes u can look at plugs to tune your car, how ever its not recommended by anyone of a good background knowledge, your plugs wont tell you the difference between a couple points in your a/f ratio which is critical for most efficent/ pro longed engine life. (i would not recommend tuning by plug readings)

Dude, 12.7 versus 12.4 doesn't make a damn bit of difference, and a tuner won't care at all about it.

I recomend, renting the dyno, doing your pull with the wideband, making your changes, and registering them anyway. But I alos know how we tuned the back in the day with no wideband or dyno. On the track, or on the street. And yes, i'm talking about efi, forced induction car's.

no i have never tuned a car before. I have read about tweecer for awhile, and have read 100's of posts about it on the corral, and it sounds difficult.

also, widebands can be had for roughly $150-250. so, with the tweecer RT and wideband i'd be out tops $750, and i have unlimited tuning. One time on the dyno getting a tune could end up running that much.

but, i am worried that the learning curve will be too difficult.

So how about this option.... talk to the guys who run the tuning shops and ask them about the SCT racers package.

I'll let them fill in the details, but basically, they tune your car with a chip, and you get a piece of SCT software that will allow YOU to further tune your chip.

12.7 and 12.4 wont make a difference but if it was more like 12.0 to 12.8, more then likely u still wont notice the difference except for very slight coloration and maybe a slight divit in the electrode, and to some one who doesnt know what they are looking at, they wouldnt even notice

12.0 to 12.8 is more like a full point than a "couple of points", and it would show up on the plug's. Again, I'm not recommending anyone tune without a wideband, they are too easy to get, but don't act like it can be done without sure engine death.

Here's the site with all the info. It's kinda dead, but there is plenty of info there, i've read it for hours before tuning my car before.
