I'm getting one built right now for my 94' cobra. I'm getting full carbon and painting the sides, to leave the middle carbon where it flows down into the grille. The company i work for makes this here in Nevada, and i'm not just supporting the company when i say its the best I've ever seen with quality. Ive installed them before, and they are 100%OE fit, and are carbon reinforced around the latch and hinges. Also, the latch is full steel, and bonded straight into the carbon/ fiberglass. To sum it up, this will NOT fly up on the freeway, and no hood pins are needed. I will post pics when i get it out of production. Let me know what you think, or maybe i should just go with the fiberglass? Thanks. :eek:ccasion14:

i would never buy something carbon fiber and not paint it. i hate how all the JDM nutswingers take stuff like carbon fiber and turn it from a "performance product" into a fashion statement. if you ask me, putting carbon fiber on your car and not painting it, is essentially the same thing as buying a bumper and not painting it because you think the swirls in the urethane make your car look faster.

but im not really opposed to seeing how it looks first. but IMO, carbon fiber should be painted... more often than not, it looks out of place, and just makes the whole car in general look tacky.

It's OK. I'd definitely paint it if I put it on mine! Never really been crazy about the CF look. I like the single step look of it.

The one thing i hated about my car when new was the stock nostrils on the hood so i have to say i dislike that hood because it has them :)

i agree. thats probably the biggest reason why i wont even consider looking at the saleen extractor hood when im looking at ones for my car. those fake vent things on the side of the gt/v6 hood look dumb. i mean i know 99% of all scoops on mustangs are fake, but they dont have to make it look stupid just because its non-functional.

i love the mach 1 shaker/hood setup you got now. with the cobra bumper, the combo looks real nice... much nicer than just a single step cowl. any reason why youre switching?

i dont get why everyone doesnt like it.. if it were fiberglass and/or painted would you like it?

I was looking at a simular one for my car when i get my KB (one day... lol) I like the added clearance, the smaller cowl doesnt take away from the lines of the car. I personally like the hood-scoop holes...

I think its sick... put it on a black car, otherwise doe that paint scheme you were talking about... or paint the whole thing. its a nice hood...

carbon fiber was designed for its purpose not for its looks. its all the tin can ricecakes that made everyone think that carbon fiber was something cool to look at. everyone originally bought carbon fiber because of the weight it saved while providing good strength... not because some 15yr old kid decided that the pattern that carbon fiber produces "looks cool". but now that a lot of identical fiberglass parts are lighter than the same piece in CF, carbon fiber is just becoming a waste of money when it comes to body panels.

i mean, the new Corvette ZR1's entire body is made of Carbon Fiber... and there's a reason why they paint it.

aside from the scoops, sure. it wouldnt look any different than any other hood of the same design painted to match.
