Thermostat Housing Gasket - easy question

I have a coolant leak coming from the thermostat housing, which brings the question: Do our thermostat housings have a gasket between it and the intake manifold? I know we have the O-ring for the t-stat..but I don't know whether we have one for the housing itself. Let me know if you guys know what I'm talking about.

i know what you are talking about, and no, we dont have a gasket, just the o-ring. take off the housing, inspect the o-ring, replace if you need to, and when you put everything together again, use some gray RTV to help seal it.

OK, I just replaced the Tstat and Oring and I'm still leaking, so I was wondering if I was maybe missing a gasket. I'll try what you said, thanks.

make sure the surface between housing and intake are nice and smooth!

+1. might want to get new bolts for the housing too if it didnt stop leaking, they could have stretched and arent holding as tight as they should be. have to warn you though, they are like $15 each from ford.

Yep exactly what I was thinking I believe you have joined the club of cracked intakes I have a non-pi with the the aluminum crossover if interested pm me.
