Thinking about doing heads, thoughts on these?

So im debating on doing a head upgrade on my 95 gt. My debate is do I snag a pair of gt40p heads and freshen them up and put better springs and rockers or buy these. Thoughts? After buying the gt40p heads and freshening them up I wouldn't be saving much as these are only $1,000.

I vote the SVE heads. GT40p's are not worth building, plus aluminum heads are about 50lbs lighter than iron heads. Make sure a machine shop goes through them though, it isn't uncommon for heads (most often from lesser known brands like SVE, but even reputable ones too) to come with defects that can completely destroy your motor.

Any aftermarket head is going to flow more than an untouched gt40 head. Aftermarket is the way to go but like he said the casting probably will have some defects. If you want a cheap pair of heads that you won’t have to touch, afr enforcers or windsor jr are the go to according to people on the corral. With these heads you’ll probably have to at the very least replace the springs and have them worked over to run them.

These heads won't necessarily need work, I've read quite a bit about them. Turns out they are pretty good quality wise. I was just being general, as are you I'm sure.

I have had good luck with GT40 irons in the past(never ran the "p" variant) but at this point any set you find will need a rebuild, and they weigh a ton. A new set of aluminums is definitely the way to go. I have heard good things about "pro Maxx" along with the ones that have already been mentioned.

You would be surprised what a set of "cheap" aluminum heads & some time blending/porting can do. They would flow massively better than an OEM offering.

I think im going to go with them as im not looking to break the bank or make crazy power just enough to put a smile on my face. I'll match it up with a very small cam and some rockers. Just hope the piston to valve clearance is good because im reading conflicting information on that.

I always wanted to run a set of SVE heads on my 5.0L when I had it, but I didn’t have the money at the time. Keep in mind, you are really going to want a tune to go with these new parts you are installing. It will make the gains way more noticeable.

Do the sve heads sparkplug install angle have a header/ex-manifold interference? Something to think about. They may require a certain header just to clear sparkplug and sparkplug boot.

I'm running the Summit branded heads and been pleased with them for my budget build. No issues and no issues with my headers or plugs.
