Hey guys today my timing chain gasket to the engine block took a crap. So i pulled harmonic ballance and all and replaced that gasket and the water pump gasket. So I replaced all that crap, and now that I got it all back together, the is a ticking coming from the engine. It sound like its coming from the harmonic balancer. Did I get it tigh enuff? I could only tighten it untill the hole engine started to turn. I really need help. tick tick tick real fast and the wife reved it. and it went faster. I was a litte mad she did that. But there is nothing touching any moving parts. already looked for that. Is th e balancer bad?

I really need help

sounds like its not tight enough. you have to stop the car from spinning when you tighten the bolt. you could also look into using an airgun to tighten it (if you can fit one.) Thats waht i used.

otherwise, wedge a crowbar behind the pulley beween the pulley and the timing cover to tighten it. Some also use the crow bar between teh flywheel and motor...

after you tighten the pulley, make sure the pulley ribs werent bent.

as i said, i used an air gun to avoid messed-up ribs on the pulley.

yea, i had to drop the fans and radiator.

drop your fan at least... its like. 2 bolts and a swift tug... that might help.

tryand use a TQ wrench on factory TQ specs, that way you know if you've hit the spot or not. and dont ask your girlfriend if your hitting the spot, she'll lie to you....

if you cant pry it, id use the impact gun.
if you cant find the impact gun, id wait till someone smarter than me responds to this thread. lol.

also, make sure your tensioner is in good condition. some 5.0s (i think) came with wear indicator.

are you sure you got the key back in the HB?
Put the car in 2nd gear and apply the e-brake. You might get wifey to stand on the brakes too.
You should have looked at the HB when you had it off for blow out.

Lol that was lucky :p. I honestly didnt have any issues with my install. I took out the rad because we couldn't loosen the big bolt without cranking the engine. It made everything MUCH easier to do. Have fun with it now :).
