Tinting Taillights.....

Does anyone know if this is illegal to have tinted tails in NJ?? Also I'm lookin to do this on Saturday so what and where can i go and buy the stuff to do it???? What do I use and what local stores will have it so i dont have to have it shipped cause it wont be here till monday

I sent him a set of tails I bought off of Ebay. They were busted! 1 was in half! I will send him my stock tails when I get reimbursed!

If your worried about the laws I can always half smoke them...Ill post some pics of my lights which are like half smoked.

I'm getting mine done in the smoked look! I am too scared of being pulled over to risk them being too dark!!

With the VHT I use the lights generally dont look tinted at night with the bulbs lit up and even during the day the bulbs illuminate it enough so that its not like your riding around with black spray painted tails.

I had my lights blacked out for over a year without a problem with the police.

Are you saying it would not hurt doing mine darker? My only fear is getting pulled over. I do not drive @ night anyhow though! If I do, it's not my car I take.

I don't think itd be a problem ever as long as its still visible and not a danger. I don't think they'd pull you over because its black until you hit the brakes, thats just dumb.

When have cops been smart though!! I'm OK in my small town because I know the chief! That's just a risk I am not willing to take, in other towns though. I'm sure many people get nervous when a cop gets behind them. I have a major medical reason of this though! If I ever get asked about the vertigo I am totally used to, I could have my license taken away & I'd never drive again!!! I have just about the worst case you can!

If your worried about cops then I wouldnt do them any darker than mine which is like half smoked....

It looks good half smoked....straight black just looks good on black cars but on any other car half smoked probably flows better anyway

I would HIGHLY suggest using LED taillight bulbs with tinted tailights. While night illumination seems to be pretty good, you catch a glare during the day, no one can see your brakelights.

ok another question about cops......how many cops to u see pulling over ricers and cars for loud exhausts n stuff

my tint has never gotten me pulled over or anything, just fyi

No, full black would look good on white/ silver cars if thats your theme...it looks like you have black rims so with window tint and tintet tails it would look sweet IMO.

I love blacked out white cars.

You shouldnt have any problems with the cops...but you never know.

Its a risk you got to take I guess...like no cats and tint....its illegal but I have no cats and 5 % tint.

If your worried about cops then dont get them black...get them half smoked like mine and you wont have anything to worry about,

haha thanks man, im sure i have lost my edge, havent tinted a set in almost 6 months, everyone is on to black and clear and transparent base coats now a days.
